    responses- without saying anything cogent.

Some would say that might be true.

Evidently. But are their claims reasonable? What do the facts show?

minimus: 1914 was supposed to be the beginning of the end, according to JWs.

This is technically correct for JWs. But they didn't start teaching this until the '30s. (They also weren't known as JWs until 1931 either.)

According to C. T. Russell, 1914 was supposed to be the End. Done, finis, no more, the Big "A".

When it didn't happen as they predicted, they waffled for many years until they changed it to "The Beginning of the End.

NomadSoul: Well, there is new light that has shined upon the meaning of generation.

So, in other words, they were wrong about what they taught before!

""The final overthrow of present governments... will be followed by seven years of socialism and anarchy, to end with 1914 by the establishment of Christ's Millennial government" - Watchtower, August 15th 1892. p239.

"...the establishment of the Millennial Kingdom, October 1914" - Watchtower, July 1st 1899 p 172.

"October, 1914 A.D. By that time the heavenly Kingdom will be in power and the ancient worthies - Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and all the holy prophets - will be resurrected and will constitute the earthly representatives of the spiritual and invisible Kingdom of Christ" - Watchtower, Oct. 1st 1903 p 373.

"Our Lord's presence, as shown in MILLENNIAL DAWN, VOL II, dates from October, 1874... the Kingdom will be fully established, or "set up", by October, A.D. 1914, as already pointed out" - Watchtower, 1st August 1904 p 229.

In the Proclaimers book on page 135 tells of tells of Russells big failed prediction of 1914

    Minimus

Here are qoutes from the Reasoning from the scriptures book ( A fieldservice must have LOL )

" The present wicked system of things, which extends worldwide, entered it's last days in 1914, and some of the generation alive then will also be on hand to witness it's complete end in the " great tribulation"_________Reasoning from the Scriptures book page 234

" Before the last members of the generation that was alive in 1914 will have passed off the scene, all of the things foretold will occur, including the " great tribulation" in which the present wicked world will end"_________Reasoning from the Scriptures book page 97

" The generation that was alive at the beginning of fulfillment of the sign in 1914 is now well along in years. The time remaining must be very short."_________Reasoning from the Scriptures book page 239

Did the WTS believe this mess ???? nope. the ones that are now well along in years has been changed to a younger overlap generation

The WTS even say that they meet the important qualifications of a true prophet

" If any individual or organization claim to represent God, but decline to use God's personal name, and make it a practice to express their own personal opinion on matters, are they measuring up to this important qualification of a true prophet ?______Reasoning from the Scriptures book page 133

All in one book, which they still use today, they have made a prediction and have compared themselves to true prophets

Is NomadSoul just a plain old troll or does he really believe JWs 'got 1914 right'?

Charles Russell said that the 'tribulation' began in 1874 and that the 'time of trouble' would end in 1914. I did not happen. It wasn't until the 1920s until Rutherford came with something resembling JWs' current views about 1914.

Maybe they misunderstood the lifespan intended for the generation mentioned in the gospels. If Genesis 6:3 is meant to be a lifespan limit then the Organization has until 2034 to get the Armageddon date right, with respect to 1914. Then again it would have to be sooner because that year is based on ones born in 1914.

The brother that tried to explain the new light about the generation change told me

that the reasoning book is talkin' bout the "one" generation that would see the end

    which includes the overlap

I pointed out the Reasoning book specifically points to the folks who were alive at the beginning

of the fulfillment in 1914 and states that they are well along in years

an overlappin' generation is not well along in years

his answer was this and this and that they had to run

Looks as if the brothers would know who to peddle this mess, shouldn't they ?????
