Agree with your observation Moshe . . . there exists a tipping point which an unregulated capatilist market system sails as close to as it possibly can . . . it's only when uncontrollable factors intervene (resource depletion) that the tipping point is reached . . . there needs to be a bigger margin of error ie; more room to move. Unfortunately the lack of sustainable regulation (socialist if you like) leaves no margin at all. The developed world is experiencing a tipping point in ever increasing volume . . . but all change requires revolution first, it would seem.

I thought it was interesting that investment in the private sector bottomed out, but investment in government bonds went up. I don't understand the dynamics there---apparently investors still trust the US. The stock market mystifies me at times since it seems reactionary---but I expected a different reaction.

Ah well, perhaps someone smart about these things can explain it. I'll be checking.

Could you please direct me to the part of the constitution that decrees such a thing?

Well the future is just peachy for Americans, if your idea of life , liberty and the pursuit of happiness looks like this-

    Oh come on, Beregeniskiniginia,

I LOVE Charlton Heston - and I love the fact that I'd be eating people. It would please me greatly knowing that I am eating a big old bowl of, well, you...

People seem to have very short memories, or more specifically little knowledge of history, when thinking that this will trigger the end of the world. (Moshe I realise that is not your suggestion with this thread). It would be interesting to see what the Watchtower was saying during the 10 year great depression that started in 1929, when US unemployment rose to 25%. I saw a graph the other day that showed the banking collapses over the last 200 years, and during the 1800's they occured every few years. What is happening now is not desirable, but is unlikely to reduce the standard of living below that of 50 or 100 years ago.
