Is it possibly time for me to dig up my Balanced Budget Amendment thread again?

Times were hard for farmer Brown during the depression and to keep his mules working until the crop came in, he started mixing sawdust with the oats- one part sawdust/10 parts oats. Worked out fine and the mules kept working just like always. Next morning he cut it to 1 part sawdust and 5 parts of oats. Farmer Brown though the mules might have slowed down a little, but he was OK with it, considering how much money he was saving on his feed bill. Shoot, I'll just go 50/50 and see how that works out, he thought. The next day his two mules were both dead. -Moshe

It's takes a smart politician to know the difference between cutting the budget and killing his constituents.

The Pubs like to say the reason jobs aren't being created right now is because of the uncertainty created by Obama. During the Bush administration, employers had unlimited certainty, lower taxes, and high profits as far as the eye could see, and yet few jobs were created during that time either. IMO, the low job growth is pure and simply a labor disciplining device. Starving men and women do not demand as high a wage.

The problem with that, Moshe, is that the budget depends on the constituents that the smart politicians are pretendeng to feed.

It is not unlike a Kingdom Hall in which everybody exists by selling tupperware to each other and giving all their money to the presiding elders.

If nobody ever has an outside job, pretty soon everybody is going to starve.

If there is anything worse on the planet is some self-righteous asshole who says "told ya so" god bullshit when they don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

A largely unregulated capatilist economy is the true evil in this world . . . and can only lead to the greatest Human tragedy.

We are in an era of declining natural resources here in the US- scrap copper has been bid up to $3/lb!!!, and when it gets to $5/lb the thieves who steal the air conditioner/cooler pipes and coils from businesses and foreclosed houses, will start pulling down the power lines to your house. We must change from consumable energy to renewable energy- and do it before the oil companies sell the last barrel of oil they have left to pump. Captitalism does not work humanely in an era of scarce resources. True, markets will bid up the cost of depleted resources and those who can afford the price will have access. That is what we do today----but-

Without rationing (socialism), the underclass (the majority) will ultimately rise up and use force to balance what they perceive to be a game rigged in the favor of the wealthy. This is a real danger and one that the former ruler of Egypt- Mubarak- failed to understand. our 20% under/unemployed cannot be ignored much longer- to do so, means our government risks losing it's right to govern.

I bet they would not have downgraded our debt if we had increased revenue. Figure it out, sometimes you have to make more money to pay off your credit cards. Only the tea-party thinks we can do it by spending alone.

Exactly, my point. All the forward looking budgets in my lifetime have been based on full employment generating the tax income stream the Gov't needs to balance income and expenditures. Farmer Obama has diluted the workers to that slippery 1 in 5 ratio of workers to loafers. The working man is beginning to get weak- no more sawdust please- we need real jobs. It's the governments responsibilty to provide jobs for everyone or limit the population/immigration to fit the resources that are available. China has exported it's job problem to us and we have dopes in congress who let the greedy corporations do it.

Could you please direct me to the part of the constitution that decrees such a thing?
