I pioneered for a year 74 to 75. I think it was 100 hours a month back then.

Was a ministerial servant for 2 years took care of the literature, and magazines.

Gave about 10, 50 minute public talks on Sunday and performed in the Drama of Noah and the Ark at Cleveland Stadium.

    I played Ham.

When 76 came, I droped it like a hot pottato and began a rapid fade. By 83 I stopped all association and have never been back.

I was born in it and got caught up and intense with it between 73 and 75.

Now I look back and see it as a spiritual kindergarden.

i became a ministerial servant because they appointed me without consultation or notice.

Aussie Oz: Well what a gift that was! Really though…what an odd thing to do, never heard of that happening. Did you question them about it?

Yes i did, i told them i looked at porn from time to time too. Told them i did not qualify and that i had not 'reached out'. They had to go the CO and explain how they stuffed up by not talking to me about it and i understand there was some ass chewing.

However, looking back, the CO probably didnt want to lose face with the service department because my appointment stayed. They admonished me to try harder.

holy spirit appoints! what a load of horse shit!

Reg pioneer for 5 years, MS 3 years, Elder 7 years, Service Overseer, Secretary, PO, Talks at circuit and district, Food Overseer for 4 years. Did the JC's many times, very awkward to let any of us judge people.

Seeing the BS from CO's and DO's made me sick. Enjoyed preaching and pioneering, hated the elder roles, I always clashed with the power hungry bastards the WT sent the congregations. Made me question how can God use these idiots.

Stepped down in 1995, completely faded now.

Since you're conducting a survey, I did ride the elevator. My dub credentials:

Former elder (20+ years) with long stints as WT and School overseer, Aux Pio'd a few times, brief period as PO back when they rotated the positions, once had to be a congo secretary for several months (hated it), and for many years was a frequent volunteer at conventions. They said I was a "good speaker," had several assignments at CA and DC. Also "served" on a few special committees selected by CO to deal with complex JCs or appeals (we overturned a DF on appeal, a proud moment). Used to be that when you looked up "prominent elder" in the JW encyclopedia, you saw my picture (they've since removed it).

It was being a dub at this level and seeing all that went on behind the scenes that taught me the "Truth" wasn't the truth.

I would like to issue a blanket apology to the people I hurt by being an asshole -- and I surely was although I'd like to think I wasn't.

Those of you who were public speakers, especially those who had parts on CA and DC...does it ever hurt your feelings a little when we talk about how deadly dull and boring those were? I mean I'm sure you TRIED to make it the best you could but, given the parameters you had to work with, your chances of giving a really good and entertaining part were doomed from the start.

As a lowly sister, of course, all I could do was parts on the school (wasn't really hardcore in long enough for anything else, and hubby was definitely NOT MS or elder material...in fact I think he only joined in the first place because his family and I were 'opposed'). Everybody told me How Good my parts were and I did try hard, but basically I know my parts were boring and stupid...parroting the party line.

Thanks jaguarbass...this is my favorite line in the thread. Playing Shem would be a close second.

    Yup, aussie...that sums it up.

I wasn't no big wig. Sad to say, I did make it to publisher before getting the hell out.

I got contacted, baptized that year, MS within a year, regular pioneer that year, then nine years of pioneering and MS-ing, finally an elder/pioneer, field service overseer, school overseer and that for the next 16 years and then I quit while I was still an elder.

Probably being a Bethelite was the thing that could've given me the most gold stars if I'd have wanted it. Much to everyones bewilderment, I turned down every invitation to get on the platform and tell my "experience". I avioded telling anyone I was at Bethel because they expected so much from you...profound comments, exemplarly behavior, walking on water etc.
