    “What a nutter.”

Exposure to this asylum made some minor impression on me and has at times distorted any potential for a normal response. I've many times asked people simple questions and they often can't answer without going ballistic. This is an indicator people have things buried in their mind they're incapable of addressing logically. I don't necessarily answer all your questions.

Google: “trolls who talk shit on the internet” for an understanding as to why.

Alice why don't you go and crawl back under whatever hospital bed you escaped from, and quit trying to hijack every thread that's posted.

    Back on topic:

Yet, now it's not just the generation of 1914, it's an overlapping generation. It has to be explained in detail, with reference back to the Old Testament and the "historical" examples of Joseph and his brothers, just how generations can overlap and yet we're still in the time of the end. And then they go to the trouble of comparing birth years of members of the GB, which on the surface should smack everyone in the head how wrong the previous explanation was, but instead it somehow reinforces that because one old fart was still alive when a younger old fart was born, then we're still in the time of the end?

As we've discussed many times on this board, the GB will not get rid of 1914 because then they'd have to get rid of 1918 when Jesus supposedly 'inspected them', chosed them as the F&DSC which of course gives them their power structure. 1914 on it's own would be fairly easy to change. They could simply admit that Jerusalem was destroyed in 587 BCE which means Jesus returned in 1934, not 1914. They could easily tie this into the fact that Hitler was elected as Chancellor of Germany in 1933 which put the world on the pathway to WWII. Witnesses would buy this 'new light' like they do most of their bullshit doctrines. However, there is nothing scripturally that they can hinge on to to promote the idea that Jesus chose them in 1937 or '38.

Instead of admitting that they've been wrong for decades about the generation of 1914, they have tried numerous ways to try and wiggle out of it, while retaining their authority. Time is no longer on their side though and in 4 years, it will be 100 years since they declared "the world has ended". I'm sure they tried a thousand different scenarios in the Boardroom to see what they could come up with. The fact that an 'overlapping generation' was the best they could do shows that they're running out of excuses fast and are waiting to see how this 'new light' is accepted by a very weary people.

After communicating with different people, the biggest obstacle to most of the proof/ evidence (science based) atheists or agnostics in other religions is they haven't observed or experienced any intervention from God in society or in their personal life so they're left with a lot of unanswered questions.

I've lost much of God's spirit now, but I clearly remember it in my own life, that God had a powerful method of revealing his existence to faithful men of old as well as his modern day human subjects.

On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld. For by means of this the men of old times had witness borne to them. Hebrews 11:1-2

However, we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the power beyond what is normal may be God’s and not that out of ourselves. 2 Corinthians 4:7

Without this there's no true evidence that God exists. It's not all just black and white text, or a coming apocalypse that's a motivator or a strengthening agent for a person's faith. You have no memory of this when you were one of Jehovah's Witnesses?

    Wow, Alice.

That last post almost tells your actual feelings on a subject. I like the use of paragraphs, and the non-use of cut-and-paste.

However, it doesn't have anything to do with the topic. Why not start a topic of your own and raise the points you just did?

Also, I have noticed that whenever you ask someone a personal question:

You have no memory of this when you were one of Jehovah's Witnesses?

It is done with the purpose of attacking them for their experiences and views. You will have to build up some trust here by being respectful of others, before you ask such personal questions.

    Take care,

    Palm

"However, it doesn't have anything to do with the topic."

It has something to do with the topic. Increasing light isn't a concept invented and coined by Jehovah's Witnesses. It's taken from Proverbs 4:18:

But the path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established. Proverbs 4:18

Most people's lives and most organizations profit and non-profit are a work in progress. I assume people here prefer religions that are mired in the dark ages or none at all than those that are progressively enlightening.

Actually Alice, the scripture you quoted above has absolutely nothing to do with interpreting the bible. If you take a look at the verses before and after this very selective one, you'll get an idea as to what this light is talking about:

"...Into the path of the wicked ones do not enter, and do not walk straight on into the way of the bad ones. Shun it, do not pass along by it; turn aside from it, and pass along. For they do not sleep unless they do badness, and their sleep has been snatched away unless they cause someone to stumble. For they have fed themselves with the bread of wickedness, and the wine of acts of violence is what they drink. But the path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established. The way of the wicked ones is like the gloom; they have not known at what they keep stumbling..."

It is fairly plain to see that this scripture is simply referring to the two paths in life that a person can take: either the path of a righteous man, or that of a wicked man. If someone persists in "doing badness" with the "bread of wickedness" and "acts of violence", then the path they follow in life will indeed be "like the gloom", full of darkness and with no joy. But the person who is "righteous" and leads a good life, who's generous with their dealing with others, who is honest, trustworthy and has a good relationship with God, will (obviously) fair much better. Their path in life will be completely different from the wicked person and it will indeed be "like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established."

There is absolutely nothing in these verses that even hints that it is referring to Jehovah ‘shedding light' on their (erroneous) interpretations of the scriptures. Yet the Society uses this scripture on a regular basis whenever one of their doctrines or prophecies fails to materialize in the way they had predicted. Without these scriptures (which have been twisted to mean something they were never intended to mean), they would have absolutely no viable explanation for why God's "sole channel of communication" have repeatedly gotten bible prophecy wrong.

    Agreed. Interesting verse.

    Proverbs 4:18 (English Standard Version)

18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,
which shines brighter and brighter until full day.

Notice how their is one path for the righteous.

The WT teach there are two paths for the righteous and ultimately two destinations.

    Jesus has this to say.

    Matthew 7:13-15 (New International Version)

    The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

Once, again, one path for the righteous, once for the unrighteous.

    Blessings, Stephen

I know some people have trouble with the thought that the four trumpet blasts in revelation refer to proclamations given by speakers at a series of conventions in the late 20's?

We just have to trust that it is true. It certainly adds more interest and relavance to our upcoming summer district conventions. We could literally be "witnessing" (pardon the pun..tee hee) monumental moments in mankinds history at the convention(s). What if even more prophecy is revealed at the conventions this summer? What if there are additional "trumpet blasts"? What if there are secondary trumpet blasts that coincide with the originals?

A trumpet blast makes a loud sound and the tone trails off and carries for some time. Could it carry for almost 80 years and the note still linger into the stadiums that hold our summer district conventions? Oh what a sweet tone it is. If you listen closely you can still hear it? Listen close...shhhhhh. Oh my! There it is. It sounds clear as crystal in the voices of the brothers giving the talks at the conventions. It's as if their voices carry that everlasting trumpet note. There is not a sweeter sound that exists. It's timeless, and that sweet, sweet, and sweeter still lingering note......

Do we dare miss the lingering notes of the trumpet blasts yet to come at this years convention(s)?
