    CHL,

It sounds like you are delving into self-actualization. I would feel much more at ease with you and the thoughts that you've expressed here, than a self-righteous Fundie that can justify his evil actions because it is the will of his God. It takes a lot of courage to analyze and inventory your thoughts and feelings. It may be scary at first, but it will make you a better man.

BigWilly said, "CHL has and always will have my respect, he is one of the most self actualized people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. The fact that a person has taken the time to observe their darkside, acknowledge it and embrace it is impressive to me. This is much healthier and well adjusted that sticking one's head in the sand and denying one's own nature."

    Bravo, BW. I agree.

Just as I feel everyone needs to acknowledge their male as well as female side, everyone must acknowledge both their "good" and "bad" sides, in order to be whole. By the way... good and bad are often relative to what side you're on.

    Hoo, boy. Here it comes.

Hmm...so rather than noticing any dark propensities within the self, you will be content with the vicarious thrill or fascination with having it second hand...

Perhaps this points to the role that violent video games may play in society: allowing a fantasy version of our violent tendancies to play out ins a controlled manner.

In any case, when you watch a Saw or a Dark Knight or play Doom or stare like a deer caught in headlights at a tragic scene, perhaps you may begin to understand how your own psyche dances with the shadow. Especially if you hold such things at arm's length.
