    restrangled,

Well too bad fella, because to most members of this forum.... displays of "support" are heart felt and backed by "true" motives despite your view. Just because you make statements about your own criteria does not make it true for others., or did you not learn that lesson as an elder for what, 20/30 years?

Now just HOW would you know that. Because you think so? Because they told you so? If you automatically believe what the posters on this board tell you about themselves, you are even more stupid than you appear to be.

I might ask, 'Just because you make statements about your own criteria does not make it true for others., or did you not learn that lesson when you were ten years old?

You have know idea how many here interact, by private mail, telephone, personal meetings etc.....whether they are interesting to read or not.

Another bonehead misses the point through lack of careful reading comprehension. I MADE the point that support via PM, telpehone and face to face meeting was the way that I chose to support and that imo was more valuable than bleeding hearts like yourself making a shallow display of your 'caring'. Yuccch!

Just because you state something on this site does not make it so....please get over your elder wind bag self.

Having wasted time reading many of your inane posts, normally inspired by a dog, you are most certainly the pot calling the kettle black.

I for one, am not "Impressed" with your blow hard posts.....

lol....Did I ask you too be impressed? You have no importance whatsover in my life, so why should what you think of me matter in the slightest? Get over yourself. That you have the online presence of a gnat toward the end of its life cycle is not my fault, Restrangled. Get over your jealousy of me. It will eat you up.

I had no idea the Canadians burned the White House. And got away with it?????

Well, it wasn't wihite back then. And besides, the US started it. After we burned the house down we went home and the war was over.

Simon, in all fairness I might point out that the Newfies would be quite happy to secede from the rest of Canada and become a republic in their own right. But lucky for us, we hold most of the population hostage in Fort McMurray.

Bring_the_light, we will need to disagree on some points...

Choosing to invade Nazi occupied Europe when we were never attacked or in imminent threat of attack from them, and when the Nazis wanted alliance with us, was a NeoConservative theory.

Germany did declare war on the US, Iraq did not. I believe it is more accurate to view our involvement in WWII in terms of the network of alliances in play. We had been supporting our ally Britain against Germany for a couple years before our direct involvement on the ground; and indeed our direct involvement came fast on the heels of Germany declaring war on the United States (December 11, 1941). Germany's declaration was in response to the US declaration against Japan, responding to their attack at Pearl Harbor. Germany and Japan were linked by the Tripartite Pact.

You may shoehorn a Neocon philosophy onto the situation (as an articulated philosophy, Neo-conservativism didn't exist until well after WWII was over), but It is quite a stretch to compare the US involvement in WWII with Iraq.

I wonder how you would explain the previous US support of Hussein in Iraq?

Our interests were a free and democratic Europe.

We have all kinds of interests that we do not go to war over. It would be more accurate in the case of WWII to say our interests were in defense of allies, and demonstrably self-defensive. We had actually been attacked by a Tripartite Pact country.

It is telling that out of all the interests - specifically regarding freedom and internal suppression - in the whole big world, Iraq was chosen. Hussein, while nasty, was hardly the baddest on the block. If our engagement in Iraq is all about bringing freedom, the US didn't exactly pick the greatest opportunity to make its point.

I'm astonished nobody sees any parallel here with Iraq.

    Hmm...perhaps because there isn't one?

A European claiming the United States is bad for invading Iraq is simultaneously rejecting the entire concept of America entering WWII.

I'm an American claiming the United States is bad for invading Iraq, and lying about the reasons. I see little if any parallel with WWII, where our allies were in open warfare with an alliance of nations, our soil had been attacked by one of those allies, and war was officially declared upon us by those allies.

I realize the nuances are subtle, but I find them important.

The theory that you'll gain allies by defending freedom is proving to be a very Polly-Anna mindset.

Remember: that wasn't the reason the US invaded Iraq. The US invaded because supposedly Iraq was behind the 9/11 attacks. Everything else is tacked on window dressing.

    Simon,

I was too late in reading the post on the thread where you made your ruling. So i would rather post what i have to say here as you've been reading this thread. I have decided not to post much anymore and not to rely on this board as the support that it has been, but feel i need to air my views on this.

I think you are totally wrong in your decision not to allow people to post their right wing views. This thread is a prime example, you are posting your views on here in an ascertive way, yet i'm sure there are some who may feel bit to dare i say scared to challenge you for fear of being deleted.

Please don't think i am coming from a right wing perspective, upon leaving the org i dived head first into politics. I almost joined the Socialist Workers party, but didn't through fear of being disfellowshipped. Over the years my political views have mellowed, but i'm still on the left. For me listening to all this right wing drivel is what helped me to form my views. I love my stance to be challenged, when some come at me with a right wing argument it only strengthens the views i hold. My views, also anti-american ones can be seen in the threads i have posted on.

But in making this ruling you really are stifling free speech. BTS got deleted for challenging your views, he seemed to have a good counter argument from what i saw on his post.

I guess your ruling really has made me realise that this board belongs to you, many here may well have felt they owned the board so can post whatever they like. But many here use this board as support in the same way as i have done, in the same way that you have done.

For me, i have thought about posting in the future on political debates, but i can't see how i can if some will be scared to voice their right wing opinions. I have often wondered where the left would be without the right. On a world wide scale communist governments have failed imo because they have not had a good opposition.

I always thought that this board should welcome all ex jws and all active jws who are having doubts, this for me should transcend politics.

But as i have said this ruling of yours certainly makes it clear that this is your board and your statements show where you want it to go. I sincerely hope that those ex jws amongst us who hold right wing views do not rely on this board to much for support.

Europeans have a long history of looking down on Americans...

Fortunately, Americans have never been guilty of this ...
