Why Do People Have Children?

    Personal anecdote, hs.

    Love the question, BTW.

My paternal grandfather wasn't too close to my father.

Good man, but saw little use for feelings and communication.

I suppose that had something to do with the way he was raised.

My father tried to improve upon that.

    I know that he did.

I know the relationship I have with my son is much better, more intimate, than the one I have with my father.

So I guess each generation learns from past mistakes and improves.

I wanted children and had four. Did I know what I was getting into? Nope. Do they drive me crazy? Yep, but they all have my heart and I love having them in my life.

I mean look at him...ain't he sweet?

I think that getting a woman pregnant is a very foolish thing in this day and age. With overpopulation and all those kids in orphanages or roaming the streets. Procreating is counterproductive, adopting a child is noble.

    Evolutionary imperative?

Yes, any organism that does not procreate is the last of it's species.

Are there noble reasons to procreate?

Instead of adopting instead? None that I can think of...

I've been very impressed with your intelligence, LCL.

This comment of yours is no exception.

However, I believe the passing of time will change your perspective on this.

    IMHO.
