I can't believe that I've never commented on this thread.

    In no real order:

    Steve Howe

    Brian May

    Randy Rhoads

    Jake E Lee

    David Gilmour

    Jeff Beck

    Jimmy Page

    Mick Mars

    Tony Iommi

Honorable mention to David Bowie for just always picking someone phenomenal to play guitar on any album of his.

For the most part I guess one could guess that I like my classic rock, eh?

Apart from the occasional reference to Jimi Hendrix and the odd coloured blues player.. is it only white folk that play this instrument? 99% of these lists are entirely Eurocentric to the exclusion of a wider view of the world; implicitly regarding European culture as pre-eminent and the only valid music that exists.

This post really should be entitled: "Who is your favourite White Guitarist of all time providing he is American or British and had his heyday in the 80's and only plays Rock'n Roll"

There are as many guitar players and styles as there are genres of music. The list below may serve to expand your awareness and hopefully your tastes somewhat..

Way to take a feel good thread about personal favorites vis a v guitar gods and make it something unessarily racial petty and stupid.

its likely not just racial but age reated as well. You see the question related directly to personal experiance and preferaces. If your my age (late 30's) and grew up in the north east of the USA, rock and roll of all sorts was king and guitar rules rock. Guys like eddie van halen are a common theme because we share common cultural experiance. Hindrex the same... If you want a racial discussion how about you start your own "non white guitar gods" thread.... You can and your other racist friends can have fun with that and i will be sure not to read. In the mean time i cited the top five in my personal experiance and will be happy to justify why i think they rock.

Race wont be a reason for any of them.

Me and my racist friends? Because I merely mention the existence of other genres and cultures and styles you dub me as racist? I think you may have just revealed something about yourself there sir.

You are more than entitled to have your opinion as narrow as your tastes in music and guitarists.

Encase you had not noticed the world is not just black and white and 'Rock' is not the only sound that defines the very expansive and expressive world of guitar music, ability or talent.

I'm sure if I ever did feel inclined to start a thread on 'the best of' a particular thing I can assure you that your 2"x 2" viewpoint would not be missed. Especially from someone who obviously has still to acquire the art of spelling.

"Hindrex" Is that not something you wipe your nose with?

I also note you didnt offer a single guitar god merely cited genres. good job playing race card AND offering nothing to the conversation.
