I've met a lot of jw with various mental illnesses.

When I was about 16 or 17 I remember this one guy who came back to the hall, his name was Tim. He had had a nervous breakdown and was living with his mother. What I remember most about him was his eyes they kinda looked like that but with more of a haunted broken look. I always thought that he didn't really want to be at the hall but he was only there for his mother, who was very proud of him - very close to worship. I tried to engage him in conversation but he wasn't much of a talker. I wonder what ever happened to Tim.

There was a mentally slow sister at one congregation. Some of the best, most charitable behavior I ever saw toward a congregation member was in regards to her. There were sisters who'd pick her up for the meetings, sisters who made sure she got hot meals occassionally, and the WT conductor made sure to call on her once during the study (even though her answers never made a lot of sense). I'm not sure if they've been able to keep it up, though. Her father, who she lived with, died a few years ago and I believe she was moved into a group home.

We had all the sickies...people with allergies to scents, claustraphobia problems...stuff that "forced" them to stay away from meetings and service. Funny thing was that it didn't effect them when there was a congregation-wide picnic or party. I'm not remembering any disruptively eccentric characters that were baptized JWs. Several loons that came in off the street, but nobody too obviously messed up that was a regular. LOL

I attracted nutters like a magnet! (yeah, birds of a feather....). Somehow I always ended up in FS with a brother who never took his pyjamas off. You'd see the elastic above his belt and they were longer than his trouser legs! No sense of humour that man.
The bipolar Pio. sister who would place HUNDREDS of mags a month. No-one believed her, but she had a mighty stash of old issues that would be shoved under every door. Probably a few Consolations in there.
My favourite was a guy that was on personal terms with Jehovah and was setting churches alight to get a head start! I met up with him as a fellow psych patient in hospital and he recognised me!! He was disfellowshipped of course but I think the elders liked his attitude.
