Little Molly in the Dying Light
by TerryWalstrom inlittle molly in the dying light.
i smell the woodsmoke only in memory now with the laughter of my little molly in the dying light of evening.
such days have long gone where our cabin crouched as proud as this working man's hands could fashion.. hewn timbers snugged their fellows where dark mud packed the ragged gaps still holding molly's tiny fingerprints.

JWs- “SCIENCE IS A DISTRACTION TO MY FAITH"
by Giles Gray in“after our discussion last week i asked myself ‘do i need to go into the depth of science to make sure of what i believe’, and my answer was that i don’t need to go into science because science would be a distraction to what i already know with my faith…”the above is a quote from a conversation i had with two jws who called on me at the weekend.
i knew that the standards of the jws had declined, but what i experienced the weekend really highlighted that fact and it was quite a surprised.amazingly they came back, but this time i had the presence of mind to record the entire visit which is really going to help me examine how these people think.they were coming back on the topic of the evidence of evolution and how this contradicts their interpretation of the bible.
i had sent them an email that dealt with the topic of nature’s vestiges and i asked them to explain the biological atavisms that occur in whales and humans.

The Debate Is Over...
by JW_Rogue infor years theologians and historians have researched who the historical person known as jesus was and how much of the biblical account could be verified.
countless books have been written going into great detail.
this has been a controversial subject with some even claiming that jesus never existed.

Catholic Approach to Scripture: How It Made Me Leave the Jehovah's Witnesses
by Hernandez inindoctrinated into all things watchtower, i once believed the bible was true history, that evolution was false and evil, and that the bible could be trusted to be reliable when it touched on science issues.
then i got introduced to the official catholic bible translation of u.s. catholics, the new american bible revised edition (or nabre--not to be confused with the protestant nasv or new american standard version) and things changed.
i was shocked to learn that the nabre teaches.... the creation and flood stories of genesis are jewish adaptations of mesopotamian heathen creation-flood mythology, not history.

Someone Turned Off the InterTubes
by Simon injust a heads-up in case we disappear too, there's a massive ddos attack happening that has knocked a lot of major sites offline:.
http://gizmodo.com/this-is-probably-why-half-the-internet-shut-down-today-1788062835.
things like this can have knock-on effects as other systems become overloaded, so far we seem ok so fingers crossed we stay that way..

Just a little bit depressed .... so I went for a walk - a walk into the beginning of my JW life
by fulltimestudent ini seldom feel depressed, but i did yesterday.
possibly, its because i'm likely going to graduate next year and i feel somewhat lost.
the goal i've had for the last 8 years to improve my understanding of the china-asia nexus, will have been accomplished.

Finding out that jws are not what they make out to be
by nomorepain13 in*warning this is long* it all started on the last day of the "remain loyal to jehovah" convention.
a little background story, i've been raised as a jw, been in and out of the religon, never baptised but was made an unbaptized publisher about 3 years ago, always felt out of place in the congregation, blamed myself for this because if i had just went to meetings and did all the right things then i would have friends and not be in the mess that i was.
right after becoming an unbaptized publisher i met my now fiance, end up leaving my mother's house to live with him, elders haven't contacted me about my situation even though i'm sure they know as my step father is an elder...but anyway on the last day of the convention my fiance came with me as i was visiting my mother and had planned to go with her and her husband to the convention.
