Only One Religion's WebSite Ignores the Desaster in South Asia

To whatever religion's website you surf, all have a comment on the tsunami in south Asia: be it Catholic, Protestant, Adventist, Mormon, New Apostolic or whatever. They try to give comfort and encourage people to donate for the suffering people there.

But if you go to http://www.watchtower.org or http://www.jw-media.org there is no mention of it (at least by now). Watchtower.org even features "Poland's Amazing Coastal Dunes".

Yeah, "Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need."

But be sure that for some days now thousands of JW use the desaster as a selling point for their literature.

    Good catch, GXJW.

    Yep,

I think this indicates where their heads are at. On the second link you mentioned is the "top headlines" which are all stories about witnesses being persecuted or whatever--not one mention of the Asian disaster. Maybe the WT doesn't pay much attention to its website, though I can hardley make that excuse for them. What happened to the good Samaritian and to love your neighbor as yourself? Obviously this is not a teaching this Organization puts into practice much. I am growing increasingly disgusted with this Org.

If they do post anything, it will be on the www.jw-media.org site and only from the angle of JW victims/survivors.

Information has to go through the right channels

    God

    Jesus

    GB

    Given Ones/Nethinim/Bethel Elders

    DOs/COs

    Elders

    MS

    Baptized brothers

    Unbaptized male publishers

    Women

    Children

Well they are waiting to see if this is the outbreak of armaggedon before they release a statement of "Tsunami, whats next? apart from pioneering?" or "How brothers braved the convention in the face of tsunami"

Give them a couple of more days to realise that there is a lot going on outside of Brooklyn and then they will come up with Something to demonstrate why they were quiet when JW people needed them the most.

(The following said with tongue in cheek)
"Uh. . .Oh. . Must have been an oversite by the webmaster! Because WE are ALWAYS the first on site to offer help to our 'brothers and sisters' who are in need!

    Yeah Right!

    Very good catch

I went to official websites of several religions, including Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists along with the more mainstream religions. They all mention the disaster and/or their relief campaign/funds. I then went to the official JW site and the JW-media site. Neither one mention it at all.

A catastrophe of this magnitude and most of the world puts aside their differences to come together to offer aid and comfort. The churches, who like to toot their horn of charitableness are there doing their part...except for the JWs. No mention of it, no relief fund effort, nothing. It's as if nothing happened.

While this is not a significant scandal or doctrinal issue, the "head stuck in the sand" attitude shows the true colors of the this organization. It's all about them and no one else. They really are the center of their own universe.

Nice find there. It does seem awfully strange doesn't it, let's check the site a bit.

The copyright date says 2004, there is no specific day/month listed there. Well, that wasn't a help.

Check the source code, there's no time stamp there, so that doesn't explain much either.

Go to the Current Events page. Ah, now we're getting somewhere. Notice the date of all articles included there are earlier than April 1, 2004. This easily says that the last site update was before April.

Since WatchTower is moving printing presses, and other neccessities, they're slowly abandoning buildings in New York, mostly for security issues. Thus, there isn't much in they're old offices. Since the new buildings havn't been completely set up yet, they also havn't got access to a computer (or if they do, they lack one with admin access) to update the site (the server is mysteriously up and running though). Thus, without a computer, especially one with admin access to the server, there is no way to update the site, and by extention, no way to list any releif efforts to in Asia.

Further proof to the lack of updating comes from the fact that the publications released at the 2004 DC are not listed.

JW will view their km 1/05 article on donations as "meat in due season" and as proof that God is leading them.
