Maybe Lot was having sex on a regular basis with his daughters and the whole story about his daughter getting him drunk to get pregnant for a noble purpose was just a cover up for what really happened. After all Lot was a patriach.
Completing the sex act when your snockered.

Simon, "just like Spinger..." Great!
I've woken up in many beds I don't know, or how I got there. After the pioneering and abstinence, the DA letter, and I hit the jug and electrics and went on a bender. I shook some mornings seeing where I was and who/what I had porneia with; had Jehovah chasing me in my head, and would do it the next night, wasted! But never my daughter, never mind TWO daughters!

It is a FICTION STORY. It is right up there with all the Henry Millar must reads for english literature.

Why - this is the perfect example for the borg to follow when handling child molestation cases:
Step 1: blame the victim
Step 2: shun the innocent children
Step 3: declare the older male as righteous because he obviously must be without fault - after all, he's a leader with authority

I don't know just before I left the org a lot of my friends had just gotten chucked. For drugs, drinking, orgies you name it. Two of these guys were into drugs and alcohol too the point where it was critical we expected to hear anyday that they were dead thankfully they both made it out the other side and are now drug free (one unfortunatly went back to the jw's but at least he's not dead right) the one who stayed out has a fairly linear memory of his drug days there are periods of hours that he's forgotten and even one or two stretches where he's lost a day here or there... the other dude (who went back) lost a good eight month period... I mean LOST IT all he remembers is standing at the atm waiting for midnight so he could get more cash on his atm cards for more drugs and alcohol. He remembers maybe one week out of that whole period when he sobered up in the hospital. He had been stabbed and brought to the hospital no idea who did it no idea why he got out of hospital got out of jail and was gone again... and I really believe this guy when he says he lost this time. now that he's been off drugs for a while he's regaining some of this stuff but it's still hazy at best... scary stuff

My dad's been dead for quite a number of years now, as has my mother. Anyway, while growing up I rarely saw my father in a completely sober state. Although he would have never admitted to being an alcoholic, most people would have judged him as being an alcoholic. He would actually buy whiskey by the case, rather than a bottle at a time. He depended on the stuff, no doubt about it.
I remember an incident that happened after I was married, and had become baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I and my wife were over at the folks visiting and the subject of neutrality came up, and of course he had been hittin' the bottle as usual. My dad made some sort of a statement like "If we all were "neutral" then Hitler would've come over here and raped all our wives!" Well, I can't remember precisely what it was that I said in reply but it was something that expressed my disagreement with what he'd said. Upon hearing my reply he then got up and started in the direction of where he kept his bottle stashed (out in a utility room just off the kitchen), and having gotten turned around with his backside facing my wife and I he jestured with his thumb in his butt while waving the accompaning fingers (much like someone thumbing their nose, except he was thumbing his butt). At the point this happened he was out of the view of my mother by that time. Well, as might be expected, with my being rather new in the truth as well as still being a bit green behind the ears, I found myself being extremely offended by my dad's jesture and even more so over the fact that he'd acted like that in front of my wife. Well, I decided that we should go at that point. So we left before he got back from having gotten a 'snort'. Several weeks went by. Of course being JWs we had full schedules and so it wasn't hard for the wife and I to skip spending time with my parents, in addition to the fact that I had yet to learn that "the taking of offense lies in the bosom of the stupid one". It came to pass that I eventually mentioned to my mother via telephone that dad had insulted both myself and my wife by his "jesture". Following that, she talked to my dad and later called back. And you know what my mother told me? She said that he denies having ever done such a thing. I said, "Do you suppose that both I and my wife had simply imagined that that was what we saw? Or that our eyes were playing tricks on us?"
Of course at the time I thought my dad was lying, attempting to cover up his shameful act, being too proud to admit his fault. Now though, after all these years that have gone by, I'm not really so sure that he WAS lying. Like I said, he was nearly always under the influence of alcohol. Perhaps he really didn't remember that disgusting "jesture" that he had made, and over which I had become so offended.

A Circuit Overseer once pointed out that the bible never said that Lot was a RIGHTEOUS man, it only said he was a faithful man. Quite a distinction that I never forgot but many fail to notice.

the bible never said that Lot was a RIGHTEOUS man, it only said he was a faithful man.
Or maybe it was the other way around.
Cf. 2 Peter 2:7f:
he rescued Lot, a righteous man greatly distressed by the licentiousness of the lawless (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by their lawless deeds that he saw and heard).
