Need help compiling a list of the latest changes in doctrine and practices
by jwfacts ini have former jws looking at jwfacts.com in order to update themselves with what is happening with the religion, so that they can better understand their jw family.
it thought it would help if there was a page devoted to what has changed since 2000. .
2012 oct release of jw.org - jws encouraged to download their own publications and use ipads at meetings and field service.

I did not watch the video but assume it is a bunch of jw's dancing to the 'Happy' song?
I wonder if they have permission to use the song in this way? Do they need permission to do this from Pharrell Williams? aren't they supposed to pay a small amount to use his song?

I am so sorry to hear about your cat. It just adds to your already burdened heart.
As a non jw I am not sure it would be proper for me to add my two cents, I just wanted you to know I am thinking of you and wishing you a bright happy future!

I got half custody!
by outsmartthesystem inso it has been quite a while since i've last been on this site.
the jist of my story is that about 5 years ago, i started a research journey that took me 2 1/2 years to complete.
against the advice of this board, i decided to show my wife because i mistakenly thought she valued truth.

Sometimes the kids need to take a few lumps on their journey in life just like we did. You made your worries known to him now it is up to him so wish him well. He is 25 after all.
Who knows what new doors may be opened to him now? New ideas, new critical thinking skills, etc.... who knows? he may even decided an entirely different course before he is through.
Wishing him all the best and for you some peace from your anxieties. It will all work out.

Aren't most jw's suspicious of old literature? don't their apostate bells go off?
When I was fighting the good fight (trying to reason with my jw) he would not believe ANY old literature quotes and even if I had an old wt he thought it was a fake made by an apostate to be sold on ebay or elsewhere just to make jw's look bad.
Trying a different tack and making the mistake of telling him that some jw's had left the org just by reading the Bible, particularly 2 books of the Bible and asking him if he would be willing to read one of those from start to end he declined saying, "why would I want to read them then?" (meaning some jw's had left due to reading one of these 2 books of the New Testament). So even the Bible itself was off limits if read with an open mind.

Is shunning effective?
by rebel8 indoes shunning accomplish its objectives:.
make the person repent?.
deter others from committing similar offenses in the future?.
-
carla
Aside from the unloving nature of shunning, why would they want people back who clearly do not believe but are only there for family, friends and/or work?
I understand why the wt/gb would want them as money is still green be it from believers or not but for the real believers, the diehards, why would they want to associate with the riff-raff of unbelievers knowing how they feel about them?
Surely many of the r & f must know the halls are filled with those of questionable faith?
Hope springs eternal? they think if they just hear the right article regurgitated at a meeting the light will dawn and the previously shunned will see the light? That's all I can think of.

Site issues: Jan 02 Update (Sign In)
by Simon ini've deployed a fix for people affected by sign-in issues caused by having multiple accounts associated with the same email address.
here's how to activate the fix:.
you must attempt to sign in using the email address associated with your account (not a username) and must have access to that mailbox.. if there are multiple accounts associated with the email address then you will be shown a warning message with the option to have an email sent to repair your account.. the email will contain a link to a page showing all the accounts associated with the same email address and allow you to select the one you want to be active (it will disassociate all the other accounts from the email address).. once you have completed the process then you should be able to sign in as normal.
