Splash: this of course is NOT what is written in the latest secret Elders book, which says they CAN be reappointed.

Yes, known child abusers can be recommended as elders as long as the "sin" was years in the past:

"For example, the sin may involve past child abuse, and this would likely disqualify him for years." - Shepherd the Flock of God, p. 38 (2010)

Note that this potential "disqualification" is only "likely" and could only be "for years". Hmmm, Shepherding the flock takes on new meaning!

I do HATE the Watchtower like I hate Jim Jones of kool-aid Jonestown fame.

But,I do not have to make anything up about their sleaze, the truth will prevail.

This-That some of the Watchtower Jehovah's Witnesses elders are expert at the mealy-mouth, they will even frame statements/accusations/decisions in the form of a question like a Jeopardy game show contestant OR really now think about this .....like Satan in the garden of Eden he spoke 54 words only 5 were lies 'you positively will not die' the rest of his confabulation was the elder mealy mouth.

In fact, it looks even worse if one reads the paragraphs in context :

    19. If it comes to light or an appointed brother confesses that he has committed a disfellowshipping offense years in the past: The body of elders may determine he can continue to serve if the following is true: The immorality or other serious wrongdoing occurred more than a few years ago, and he is genuinely repentant, recognizing that he should have come forward immediately when he sinned. (Perhaps he has even confessed to his sin, seeking help with his guilty conscience.) He has been serving faithfully for many years, has evidence of God's blessing, and has the respect of the congregation.

    20. If the sin occurred before he was appointed as an elder or a ministerial servant, the elders will need to take into consideration the fact that he should have mentioned this possible impediment to his being qualified when elders interviewed him just prior to announcing his appointment. Moreover, the nature of the sin may reflect greatly on his qualifications to serve. For example, the sin may involve past child abuse, and this would likely disqualify him for many years. - Shepherd The Flock Of God, p. 38 - Emphasis added

Question - Did Ms. Conti's Lawyer have access to this mindless "trash instruction manual" at their disposal in court?

    OODAD,

I had hoped that maybe just maybe the NEW BOOK might have spelled out for the elder NOT to appoint child molesters. The new book is worse.

The poor JW children. No protection.

Interesting that in a previous court case, the WT Lawyer stated under oth that the WT is exactly like the Catholic Church. Also interesting that in that case, The WT Lawyer aserted that written publications from the WT were Hearsay.

If this was a backroom judicial meeting, with the elders serving as judge, jury and prosecution, and the one being judged said this exact spiel, would the elders judge him as repentant? The Society asks for mercy that they do not give their flock.

Londo111: The Society asks for mercy that they do not give their flock.

    Now THAT is the truth!
