Seeing that much of the current growth is taking place in third world nations, maybe the GB will start to include more minorities soon. I wonder what the smaller nations think about the GB's current membership.

I read somewhere that they are considering adding another minority. I think he's from the Island Nation of Vanutu. Of the Bunlap Tribe and yes he will be attired in his native dress ( a Bunlap ) when he takes his seat amoung these earthly princes.

Or maby the minority person they add will be South African so they can get another white and a minority at the same time.

Is it just me or do these guys look like casting rejects from a Stephen King movie?

Seriously, have you ever seen a more creepy bunch of old codgers leering at you?

By the way, notice how in their letter they don't capitalize the word "Him" when refering to God, like most accredited historians and theologians do, but they capitalize the "Son" when refering to Jesus. Is this just a typo or does it mean something?

I thought they believed that Jesus was inferior to God, so would it not be logical to write Him in higher esteem? It doesn't matter anyway, they follow neither God, nor Jesus, not to mention they have the writing level of a third grader.

On the other hand, notice how all the words that are capitalized, like Holy Scripture, Governing Body, Jehovah, Jesus, Adam, and God, are all things they have their own seperate doctine devoted to. In other words, it's everything theycontrol.

Also, notice how they call the Bible the "spirit-inspired Word." Spirit is not capitalized, but Word is. This is because they don't believe in the holy spirit. The bible says at John 1:1, "the Word was with God, and the Word was God," meaning that the Word became flesh in the form of Jesus Christ, another way of saying that God himself took on human form. They way they word it, it's simply "inspired," stripping Jesus of His divinity and thereby giving the Governing Body, themselves, ultimate control in matters of the Bible and everyday life.

I know I'm nitpicking on their words, but I have a minor in Engish and I can't help but notice these things. They're telling the rank and file in very subtle terms exactly who their supreme ruler is (the Watchtower) and to keep towing the line for armaggedon is right around the corner. It's like their saying "we are your master, and don't forget it."

Anybody agree? Mike, what do you think?

    Greetings Jayhawk and Ozziepost,

DID MAN GET HERE BY EVOLUTION OR BY CREATION? has an illustration of [a]sheep and giraffe[s] - [the angular Giraffa camelo pardalis of which you noted four] as I recall. It mentions they are cousins. So does that mean that there and the sheep and cousins and goats? I'm going by memory. If anyone could check it out.........

    Thanx,

I met Carey Barber when I was a very young teenager in 1988. He was ancient then and seemed a little confused, but seemed nice, at least as much as I could tell from a 2 minute introduction. I do wonder how the publishers in general react to to the young guys on the Governing Body. I was always taught to be skeptical of those who claimed to be of the anointed and weren't around in 1935. I think maybe I'll go back and get anointisized..wonder how long it would take me to get some real power :)

And yes..the bulk of them do look like Amway salesmen from a Steven King novel

It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, there was a time when no one was supposed to know who was on the governing body so that they, the members, would not be in any danger. I remember being at a convention at Yankee Stadium and Franz gave a talk. He was escorted out with bodyguards surrounding him. No one was allowed near him, or could shake his hand. I asked why that happened and was told that there could have been an apostate in the audience that would want to harm him. Looking in from the outside, this whole "organization" is such a scam.

I knew Steve Lett, and yes, he is, or was, very flexible. It was 1993, and I had just gotten reinstated. He noticed how I was being ostracized(hope I spelled that right), for, one, marrying an unbeliever, and on top of that, creating a demon spawn. (That's pretty much how my child was treated.) After his talk with the elders, all of a sudden we were getting all kinds of invitations, offers to baby-sit, etc. That was just the beginning of my seeing how phony these people are. He was sincere. But the rest of them...I was disfellowshipped again in 2001. I didn't even have the desire to come back. I finally got that weight off of my shoulders and could be a real person.

Those on the GB have to be

    male

Very interesting, according to the watchtower those that are to rule as kings and priest over the earth, picked by Jesus

are male and female but for now the sisters in the organ. can never be chosen in being part of the GB.

    What's up with that ?

I realize what the scriptures says of not permitting a woman to speak or to teach but then why are they being picked to rule over mankind?

Is it because there is no gender up in heaven?
