    Hi everyone

In the latest October 15th 2012 Watchtower (page 13)...

"Because of what they perceive as defects in the elders, some individuals who engage in serious wrongdoing in the congregation have refused to appear before a committee of elders assigned to help them. This could be likened to a patient who loses out on the benefits of a treatment because he does not like something about the doctor."

Sounds like they're now trying to stigmatize those who try to avoid judical action.

Of course, it's also supremely ironic that they talk about declining medical treatment in a negative way, but encourage people to do precisely this when it comes to treatment using blood transfusions!

    Thoughts?

Wow, the problem of refusing to appear before a JC is so widespread that they feel compelled to put it in print for all 7.5 million JWs to read?

I had no idea it was such a growing trend.

Thanks, WT, for providing yet more evidence that your control over "the flock" is slipping!

... my initial thought was the audacity of comparing a well educated medical specialist with a part-time JW elder

I appeared to appease a JW family member who genuinely was trying to help

Having said that I turned up in casual clothes, argued the sh*t out of their procedures, read them a letter and then told them I was leaving.

One of the 4x elders informed me 'they hadn't finished yet'

I informed him he had a hearing problem :-)

    Df'd and best thing ever.

I like how the WTS embed the notion of 'serious wrongdoing' in every JC event.

How about a JC for discussing child abuse coverups - that's apostasy in case you didn't know :-)

Maybe if they did more shepherding calls, there would be less need for judicial committees. But,just by the name, judicial committee, yes,I'm sure they are just trying to help.

I would definitively take a blood transfusion if needed. However, I absolutely refused to show up at any of the numerous committee meetings they kept setting up my behalf. A blood transfusion could save my life. Telling brother bob, tom and jim what position I was doing it in would accomplish nothing.

LOL LOL….don’t doctors go to college, then medical school…spending almost TWO DECADES TRAINING TO BE A DOCTOR…….then have to pass a rigorous set of standard to be LICENSED as a practitioner?????? What does a JW elder have to do? Drive around in a mini-van for 10 hours a month? Does he even have to read the entire Bible cover to cover?? How is a window washer that looks at porn, gets drunk and lies about field service have ANY qualifications that compare to an educated doctor?????

    DUMBEST PEOPLE ON EARTH!!!!!!

When elders go to school for specialized training in counseling and other fields tied to "sheparding the flock" for 8+ years and have degrees hanging on the wall in the backroom of the KH, then they can fucking compare themselves to doctors who give life saving advice. Until then, elder body: Fuck off!

The elders have no jurisdiction over anyone. F them.
