JW kids who are currently in college LOVED the convention drama!
by urbanized inhere's a transcript of a post about the 2005 godly obedience convention (which i read about on this board and seemed to highlight a drama in which a biblical story was highly distorted in order to discourage higher education) from a jw youth group on www.myspace.com.

hey everyone!

The trouble with testimonials like these is the one sided picture they can paint, how many young ones had negative opinions? I think the slowdown in JW growth and the falling away of a whole younger generation throws light on the real situation.

Jehovah's Witnesses Demand Complete Opening Of Finacial Records To Public!
by frankiespeakin injehovah's witnesses demand complete opening of finacial records to public!
they want to see where the money is going and since the governinng body is the head part of the faithful and discrete slave they should humbly and willingly comply in the intrests of christian unity.
what if someone started a champiagn like that were they sent emails and letter to circulate throughout the entire brotherhood.

If the R&F really knew how much money the borg has what do you think would happen to all the contributions, donations, money and property left in wills etc. from here on out? The WT society is the modern day Scrooge type, or is that the anti-type? Never could figure that stuff out.

Interesting comment by wife of branch committee member:
by acsot ini know this couple, and their good jw friend here at work just related it to me.
she was talking about one of the faithful old "brothers" who had recently passed away.
"sister husband's-high-up-in-the-organization mentioned that if armageddon doesn't come soon, the great crowd won't be "great" any longer, it'll be little, 'cause the older generation is all dying off.".

Lots of older ones realize that they have been misled for years but most of them just don't know what to do or they are too afraid of making a change...just in case... My own mother who's in her seventies, baptized in 1960, admitted to me recenty "this is not what we expected" but she keeps on keeping on and watching her life long friends, brothers and sisters from the hall, dying one by one. Sad.

After being out for several years I needed a place to vent some of my feelings. It's hard for others who have never been a JW to really understand our feelings and experiences. Also I made a decision recently that I could no longer be passive about this destructive cult...so if being here helps others get out, stay out or never get involved, then it's time well spent. Oh yeah...it's fun too.

Elder Condemned Me to Death
by Grace ini have been thinking about this because of another post where the question asks have any of us ever been blackmailed to stay in the watchtower organization.. no, i won't say i was blackmailed; however, after i wrote my note of disassociation, the congregation overseer wanted to visit me in my home with two other elders.
i repeatedly said no, that i would not allow them to chastise me in my own home.
therefore, all of my conversations were over the phone with the overseer.

The arrogance of these so called shepherds is disgusting. I hope you don't pay them any heed. However I'm glad you posted your experience for others to see and get an idea of the ugly truth behind the pretty pictures... JW manipulation in action.

WT advice on "If Your Child is Abused"
by undercover instraight from the wt website.
to stop abuse, you must know it when you see it.
in the numerous books on the subject, experts have listed dozens of telltale signs of abuse that parents can watch for.

Hi Dorie, Sounds to me like you're going to have a hard time with your sister. There is nothing new in the JW's predictions of the nearness of armageddon...they've been doing it for the psat 100 years or so. I was 16 in 1970 and there was a lot of talk about armageddon then. I, along with the rest of the JW's were convinced that armagedon would be here by the mid 70's...it didn't come Oh well, I knew it would come quite soon after that because they had said for decades that the generaton that witnessed the events of 1914 would still be alive at the time of the end...guess what...they've revised that docrine and thrown out that viewpoint.
I became really digusted at the way the organization played fast and loose with what they call truth. They have past truth, present truth, old truths, new truths...when really what they have is a record of failed predictions and a long string or revised beliefs which they call new light from god.
The organization doesn't want its members to think too much for themselves. They are a high control outfit. often times when people look closely at witness history and see a pattern of deception they leave. One way they counter this is to get peple like your sister whipped up into a state of frenzy about impending doom. I'm afraid there's nothing new in this.
I wish I could say there was an easy fix,but there isn't. I have similar situations with many of my family too. They just don't want to see the JW organization for what it is..a smoke and mirrors act. often they are afraid to leave because they have it drummed into them that if they go they will die at armageddon too. I hope you can get your sister and nephew to think for themselves, but remember they have been warned to avoid independent thinking and those who promote it. good luck
