i think congratulations are long overdue to the wt for the excellent job they do of keeping members dumbed-down and feeling safe inside the cocoon of a hive mind.
they tell us that the best education program in the world is reading the wt publications but here is a conversation i had with my uber elder buddy yesterday that may prove otherwise.
we were talking about the october broadcast and the question of whether gods name should be included or not, when i made an offhand comment about the compiling of the new testament and the canonisation of its books.
Great Observation JJ
I learnt so much about the bible as we know it in the last four years that I continue to add, ad nauseum, "best violin ever"

Hi all.
I did watch it to completion and cannot wait for the transcript as I thought that the pm said with regard to those not party to the redress scheme,,,, "we won't let you off the hook". I stand to be corrected. I agree with Listener, the pm's speech was hollow. In my view Shorten was much more pointed and even though I recall him from union days etc (and didn't like him as I saw him as a 'climber' which he has proven to be)) I felt he had more force in his delivery....... Lets see if the words of both or either prove to be of substance or cheap. btw, I immediately pointed out to pimi and pimo friends to read and listen carefully and understand the dismal failure of many institutions including jws regarding this travesty.

the september broadcast opens up with a story of 80 yr old brother geoff who gave up been in a band all them years ago.
fast forward to 2018 and we have a world renown tennis player and jw as far as we’re told.. so where some are encouraged to leave the world and it’s futile pursuits of fame and fortune, others are not.
or even punished for their behaviour on court or for been photographed with their country’s flag where others have been executed for refusing to salute flags.
Too true Smiddy3,,, Alex Rance,,,, show pony and wanker in daily life. With anger management issues in the sports arena. Yeah, I met him at a Bollywood event in Carlton,,thought he was strange.. He also used to saunter around the Melton Assembly hall waiting for the adulation.
I think he is over it now as my friends haven't mentioned him since he got sanctioned by the AFL for his loss of temper on the field and faking for free kicks .

guilt is such a wonderful tool used by the jehovah’s witnesses.
one of the terms they love to use is the term “blood guilty.” they have actually used this term to guilt their members into doing more and more “house to house activity” yes, they have said on numerous occasions at their kingdom halls and other major gathering that a person “could be blood guilty” for not going out in the field service activity enough.
the reason is simple.
@carla,,,,,, bit like new and improved washing powder. Watchtower Bible and Washpowder Society.

hi all.. personal experience.
attended a regional convention in melbourne australia.. saturday attendance,, 1,500 approx.. baptism,, 11. about 8 born ins ,,, all 8 under 20yo and 5 under 17.. 3 of the 11 appeared to be over 20 and are not born ins.. sounds about .8% increase ,,, kind of.. the outstanding part of the day was the continual reference to ' are you, can you do more'.
ha ha fear obligation guilt.. jtg.
@NeedToKnow,,,,,, plenty, hoppers crossing, altona and some others from the western suburbs as far as I could determine. I'm in the general area. And I do recall the 'get baptised or you will die' mantra that was promoted.

one of the recent threads on the talk about the hailstone message got me to thinking.
the problem with putting out a message like that is what to do when nothing happens.
i have to think that somebody will be asking that question.
I was thinking along similar lines when I heard of this "hailstone" message.
If suddenly the 'end' comes and they haven't 'officially' given the "hailstone" message they could always claim they have because, in my view, their message is "join us or you are carrion food"....
And yes JeffT, I agree regarding the 'mainstreaming' aspect. The International conventions for 2019 will have the singing and dancing and gift giving to international delegates as per the last one... all very mainstream.

And yes,,,pounding the pavement is a waste of time.
@NeedToKnow,,,either coffee or the "FLEECE' for a coupla coldies and watch the footy.
