One of my best friend's fathers drove himself into the lake on his snowmobile one dark night - he headed directly for the weak spot in the ice. I am convinced it was because he was involved in ...
Pedo ring which is rumored to include murder.
as a pre-awakened ms, i heard of 2 stories that i found very shocking at the time.
please keep in mind, i was following wt blindly at the time and was part of what i thought was the true religion.
the first shocking story was when i attended a large meeting for elders and ministerial servants covering our circuit.

today has been a horrible day.
what began as a day of joy finding out that one of my lifelong friends had her baby, turned into a nightmare when her brother called me to let me know she had passed away after birth.
i was in shock and didn't ask how.
This is utterly sad, and as zeb said ^^^. She will always be with you.
it's amazing how the expression "the truth" has become such an ingrained term used by witnesses.. "we have 'the truth'".
"is he 'in the truth'?".
most here have found out so many facts about the organisation, and felt the effects of being "gut-punched" as we realised these facts.. so how do you feel about the expression "the truth" now?.
I decided long ago to call it "The Lie" when talking to non-cult members. When I still saw my parents, i would call it 'the religion" or "your religion" when speaking to them.
The words "The Truth" just can't pass my lips, because I get queasy just thinking about it (makes me so ANGRY to call that misogynistic, child-abusing cult the TRUTH), and *puke*.
so i was thinking the other day that the wt corp has produced thousands of books over the years.
although the writers have changed the style is almost always the same.
however, some books are just worse than others.
exploring the human genome is like roaming around an historic town.
some places are pristine and obviously still in everyday use.
others have been unused for a while and starting to show signs of decay and if you look carefully there are relics of buildings that were abandoned long ago.. in this post we are going to look at a gene that we still carry in every cell in our body but which fell into disuse 10s of millions of years ago.. humans are placental mammals.
I find your lessons a bit hard to follow (ie, lots of information in a small package - well done), so have been supplementing by googling and rounding them out. I've never had much interest in the actual science of evolution before, so you have sparked that. Thanks. I do have a question about this lesson, just a small one.
My reading showed that 'joeys' are nursed for 350 days, and humans also breast-feed for at least a year (under normal conditions, ie, before industrialization and other factors gave women the option to refrain from breast feeding). This short term of breast feeding is a 20th century practice, and has little to do with women's ability to produce milk for years after birth.
The practice made popular in the 1950s, of feeding infants Pablum (ie, cereal grains) beginning at 3 months is now known to be a bad nutritional start. Mother's milk is all that is required, and indeed, it is recommended that 12 months be the earliest cutoff (medically) for breast feeding, even when the child's diet is already inclusive of other foods.
Are we (modern technological culture) effecting an eventual biological change, by rejecting 'nature' and turning to substitution for mother's milk? In other words, will we 'lose' the ability to lactate, as more generations of babies are not fed from the breast? In effect, 'use it or lose it'?
And I don't expect a 'defining answer' ... it just made me think of all the messed-up, unnatural things we are doing to ourselves and the planet, and left me wondering what kind of genetic changes may take place down the road. Or perhaps I have just read too much sci-fi in my life (not a bad thing, considering Verne and others who 'imagined' the future). : )
sorry but i really feel like i need to rant right now.
recently my dad was made an elder so my family has been doing a lot more "theocratic" activities lately.
every morning i wake up and put on my itchy dress and stupid makeup and heels and then pretend that i love what i'm doing and that everybody is my friend when in reality i feel horrible and all the other teenage girls at my hall hate me for some reason.
Giordano, that's an excellent one, 'mindful meditation'. That's actually a very ancient Buddhist type of meditation, eyes can be open or closed. You can repeat any word, actually (mine is 'thinking'), and it also helps to focus on the breath in 3 stages, lungs, diaphragm, belly, (slowly through nostrils) and breath out (mouth). Focus on what you hear, smell, feel, etc. and whenever thoughts / mind starts racing, repeat the word. xx

Ah, yes, Khan Academy, forgot about that one. You're a very resourceful girl, and don't forget it!
Cappytan - I'm going to check out that site, as I need to re-train because of disability, and learning coding would be (I think) so easy, compared to what I learned in school (which was FORTRAN and COBOL) --- I know, I'm OLD. : P
BlackWolf - art camp? That sounds great, and may I ask, what medium(media) you work with? I do some painting, and have sold quite a few (130+) sculptures. I have to say, that getting into that mental groove of creating art, is one of the best things to lift my depression, when it is bad. Keep creating.

Marvin, I second that vote. I will never forget that twisted illogic - Babble, indeed.. xx
so, i know there are some from my congregation or from bethel who monitor my posts..... maybe you're looking for something to catch me out?.
just a question: rather than trying to find fault with me, have you stopped and looked into the issues or facts about the organisation that caused me to come to a place like this forum??.
facts are there for anyone to find nowadays....one just has to be willing to pull their head out of the sand.....
To the OP. You are not paranoid, and everyone posting on this forum, or anywhere online, should be aware that except for emails (which can also be hacked), your words are public.
If someone is looking to catch you up, whether it's a spouse, other family member, 'friend' or elder - they will be reading the exJW forums, reddit, etc. When a JW or JC wants to catch someone, we all know they have neither scruples nor boundaries (personal and / or legal).
Others have outed themselves by revealing too much personal information in their comments, in spite of repeated reminders by Simon to all of us, that the internet is not private.
Hope all is well. xx
the chances that anyone on this forum is my biological brother or sister, purely from a statistical point of view, is rather low.
but how many generations back would we have to go to have a fair chance that one of my ancestors married one of your ancestors (or procreated anyway)?.
i was born in 1985. less than 20 years before my birth my two parents were being conceived by a combined 4 parents of their own.. and if we go back even further, to 40 years before my birth, then i'll find an additional 8 ancestors.. around the 60 year mark i have another 16 ancestors.
I have some, Punky, but you're DF too, so chances of either of us getting a cash injection are very slim. :D
If you're from New England or the Maritimes, way back, we are cousins, fer sure!
