  This is my favorite, the Huron Carol, a traditional Canadian carol. I learned it as a child at school, and have always loved its beautiful melody (no, my parents did not know I was singing it at school hehe)

  The "Huron Carol" (or "'Twas in the Moon of Wintertime") is a Christmas hymn, written in 1643 by Jean de Brébeuf, a Christian missionary at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons in Canada. Brébeuf wrote the lyrics in the native language of the Huron/Wendat people; the song's original Huron title is "Jesous Ahatonhia" ("Jesus, he is born"). The song's melody is a traditional French folk song, "Une Jeune Pucelle" ("A Young Maid"). The well known English lyrics were written in 1926 by Jesse Edgar Middleton.

  Drink Driving

  with the christmas almost upon us i would like to share a personal experience with you about drinking and driving.. as you may know the local police are having a serious go at drink drivers this year... well, a couple of days ago i was out for an evening with friends and had a small number of drinks before dinner, followed by some rather nice red wine.

  feeling jolly i still had the sense to know that i may be very slightly over the limit.. that's when i did something that i've never done before - i took a taxi home.. sure enough on the way home there was a police road check, but since it was a taxi they waved it past.

  i arrived home safely without incident.. this was a real surprise as i had never driven a taxi before, i don't know where i got it and now that it's in my garage i don't know what to do with it.. any ideas?.

  Also, if you have been drinking heavily, do NOT drive the next morning.

  My brother-in-law was a heavy drinker, but never drank and drove. He always left the car at home. One Sunday morning, after partying the night before, he went to pick up his kids from a sleepover. He had an accident, a woman died, and he went to jail. He was still buzzed from the night before - it takes time for the alcohol to be processed by your body. He was 'lucky' that he ended up with several years house arrest (first-time offender), BUT he has to live with the guilt for the rest of his life. He is a broken man, and two children lost their mother.

  Be careful out there! Have a safe holiday season.

  In ancient cultures, and some today, banishment was considered worse than death. I guess it depends on your emotional strength (most born-ins are not raised to have healthy thinking patterns, etc.), so for many the banishment is very real and painful.

  If you are one of the 'special' ones who also grew up in a physically and sexually abusive home, isolated from teachers, other children, etc., the injustice does feel 'great'.

  In spite of that, healing is possible. A victim mentality never did anyone any good. Work towards good mental health, learn to love yourself and others, and you will realize that life is not a bowl of cherries, and everyone has pain, whether physical or psychic.

  I'm pretty much over it, except when health issues get severe and one is 'all alone', it does get very rough and that's when the feelings of depression really kick in.

  Everyone's journey is different. Some people may wish they *had* been killed. We all handle life's ups and downs in our own way - harder, and a bit scary at times, no matter how long it's been or how old you are, when there is no family to 'be there' for you..

  blondie, have you ever watched guys light their farts and then explode in giggles? Well, I finally 'got it'. My ex and I used to go up country and spend the weekend with some friends. One evening we had a few beers, and my ex and our friend (fully clothed), were lighting their farts ------- shoots flame, and I have to admit that it was too funny! They just don't let us in on this stuff when we are kids. They compare them, they brag about the size of their BM, it's all too funny if you think about it. "the boy inside the man' and all that. ; )

  Plans for huge Jehovah's HQ take shape

  its going to be a real beautiful place when its finished.. they are going for quality over quantity.

  it used to be accommodation for a few thousand permanent residents, now its looking like less than a thousand permanent with the possibility of a few thousand more in temporary accommodation should the need arise.. some say the plans are going to be like a garden of eden in england :) i mean they had farming in london over the years but this is going to be epic what they are planning for temple farm at chelmsford.. they are planting thousands (literally) of fruit trees, including tropical fruits in huge green houses, huge vines yards and then the same basic farming activities as before.

  In January, Michael Bowers of ASB Skips was £6,000 fined by Chelmsford Magistrates for running illegal waste sites on the land and there is a history of enforcement notices served on previous owners.
  In a letter to the council, IBSA said the land was “likely” to be contaminated.
  IBSA’s headquarters is currently located in Mill Hill, North London. The charity sais it had chosen Temple Farm for its new home because it has “excellent transport links and is set in a beautiful rural location”.

  Hmmm... shades of Warwick. Obviously, they don't have to worry about contaminated land and getting poisoned. Why? Because Armageddon is just around the corner!

  They should talk to that city politician in NYC who made the Brooklyn deal back in 2002 (?). The WTBTS agreed to make neighbourhood improvements in exchange for re-zoning consideration. Over 12 years and how many MILLIOINS was it sold for?, not ONE of the projects they promised to undertake, has been done.

  I really hope the Brits are examining their tax-free status,,,,,,,,,,,,,, REALLY.
