Why do Jehovah's Witnesses keep track of field service hours?
by Faithful Witness ini understand that they claim to have the responsibility to preach to every corner of the earth, so they can encourage armageddon to come quickly.
(matthew 24:14 "and this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
what rationale do they have, for keeping track of their hours and literature placements?

I can't add to that it's all about the money and the numbers, but a JW will say it's about, incite to love and fine works Heb 10.24 , a report from a far land is refreshing prov 25.25, blah blah.

My parents have had a few good opportunities they took advantage of in their lifetime. Now they are happily retired and living life wonderfully. Learning to recognise the difference between good and bad opportunities has been my downfall.
I always want to see good in everything, and giving people the benefit of the doubt has been my mistake, now I fear I am doing the reverse. Trusting no one and nothing. I hope it's just a phase.
Good thread, made me think thank you, NHAH.

There are WTBTS articles that would help her understand it's not demons from a WT perspective.
Here is an excerp from an AWAKE Sept 22 1998. The whole Awake featured the disease. It may have some scriptural guidance that you persoanlly disagree with but you can censor it for your mother.
What Caregivers Can Do
“I HAVE always been amazed at how different [people] are in their ability to cope,” says Margaret, a medical professional from Australia who has dealt with Alzheimer’s patients and their carers for many years. “Some families are able to manage with the most incredible demands placed on them,” she continues, “while others are rendered almost incapable of dealing with the situation as soon as the person exhibits the slightest change in their personality.”—Quoted in the book When I Grow Too Old to Dream.
What is it that makes the difference? One factor can be the quality of the relationship that existed before the onset of the disease. Families with a close, loving relationship may find it easier to cope. And when a person with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is well cared for, the disease may be easier to manage.
In spite of declining intellectual abilities, sufferers usually respond to love and tenderness right up to the final stages of the disease. “Words,” points out the advice sheet Communication, produced by the Alzheimer’s Disease Society of London, “are not the only means of communicating.” Nonverbal communication essential to caregivers includes a warm, friendly facial expression and a mild tone of voice. Also important is eye contact as well as clear, steady speech and frequent use of the patient’s name.
“Not only is maintaining communication with your loved one possible,” says Kathy, mentioned in the preceding article, “but it is also important. Warm and affectionate physical contact, a mild tone of voice and, actually, your physical presence all provide security and reassurance for your loved one.” The Alzheimer’s Disease Society of London sums up by saying: “Affection can help you to keep close, particularly when conversation becomes more difficult. Holding the person’s hand, sitting with an arm round them, talking in a soothing voice or giving them a hug are all ways of showing that you still care.”
Where a warm relationship exists, caregiver and patient can often have a good laugh together even when mistakes are made. For example, one husband recalls how his mentally confused wife made the bed but mistakenly put the blanket between the sheets. They discovered the mistake when they went to bed that night. “Oh dear!” she said, “I’ve been silly.” And they both had a good laugh.
Keep Life SimpleAD sufferers function best in familiar surroundings. They also need a regular daily routine. To this end, a large calendar with daily appointments clearly marked on it is very helpful. “Moving someone from their usual environment,” explains Dr. Gerry Bennett, “can have dreadful consequences. Sameness and continuity are very important for the confused person.”
As the disease develops, AD sufferers find it more difficult to respond to instructions. Directions have to be given in a simple, clear way. For example, telling a patient to get dressed may be too complex. The items of clothing may have to be put out in order and the patient helped one step at a time with each item of clothing.
If you want the whole magazine, I can email to you. Unless of course you have acess to the CD ROM, or go on jw.org and search the online library. Everything will be ok. You clearly love them very much and want to help.
What a good child you have become to them

The Eldumb in charge is notorious for losing everything.-DD
This is even better. OK I have my head covering on LOL!. Even if your friend does remember what he reported. He should tell them he's forgotten. Just like jgnat said, he shouldn't be fixing their messes.
The stupid cong rule of 10hr/month for a year is the reason why there are no competent men taking the lead who don't lose stuff. The CO needs to see the issue of the BOE being too controlling and then develop doubts about the org. CO's have in the past.

DS,
This is a opportunity for you both, if she doesn't agree on one topic. You listen and commend her for critical thinking skills. Another time, it's your turn to tell her a different topic you don't agree on.
Slowly does it DS. You are doing great. I am sure the both of you will be fine. Some of us have to be divorced to escape the CULT, mind control and abuse that comes with it, but many can leave with their marriages in tact.
Keep up the good work my brother well done

DD,
Looks like they are trying to get him on something, anything. Is it possible as soon as he fudges the numbers, the last five months miraculously appear? Have they lost other publisher records?
DD, I am not an elder, I am a welder (woman elder lol). The point is from my experience I smell a rat. If he can't remember, that what he should tell them , if he can all well and good.

Just curious, Kate Wilde, are you still attending meetings? It seems like you are from your comments.-thedog1
In a word "yes". I attended the Service meeting and School this week on Wednesday and had a JC meeting after that, which I recorded. Please listen if you have 20mins to spare thedog1

If I attened another meeting it will be to take my son because he wants to or to visit JWN posters in the UK who are still in. I will never be RI'd by my JC. So there is no real point in going back now. Plus it's likely this recording on JWN has exposed me.
This was planned over months of research study and preparing my kids. I feel free and liberated.
You also recognise what cognitive dissonance is. Only people with high IQ suffer with this. Thats why so many JWs suffer with depression and other related mental health issues. Others walk round in fluffy land, they have a low IQ and are clueless. Then there are the liars who relish in their power. They do not suffer CD, because they do not have an internal sense of justice, "conscience".
We are all here to support you. Send PMs to us if you run out of posts and have any questions.
Take care love Kate xx
