It's My Turn
by Life Is Grand inanother post from a newbie(who has been lurking around here for a couple of years now).. my story is nothing exciting really.
i grew up pretty much from the age of 3 or 4 in the jw religion.
my parents both became witnesses at that time, then after a couple of years, my mother "saw the light", and stopped going, but my father dragged my sister and i along with him for many years to come.

Are you far too trusting in other people?
by Elsewhere ini'm afraid i am.
it is in my nature to expect everyone to act in the best interests of everyone else.
i never expect that others will intentionally cause harm to another in a willfull and malisious act.

I tend toward trusting but have been burned enough to be cautious. When I first left the borg and realized not everyone was evil, I had to learn not everyone could be trusted, either.

it's going to be fun and i'll be taking pictures!.

Emma
Gee, if I had anything left, I'd send it to you to burn! I think there's one copy of the NWT somewhere in the back of my car.

What are you doing Memorial Day weekend?
by juni inhopefully it will be a beautiful weekend.
we always get together with our entire family (kids and grandkids) for an all day picnic and fun and then watch the small town parades.
and then this weekend we will be playing "catch-up" with outdoor projects on the house that we couldn't get to because of the rain.

Celebrating my oldest kids birthday! Big, tall cake and lots of good food, a cook out if the weather is nice. Maybe some gardening if there's time.

Da Vinci Code reviews
by aniron inhere are some reviews i came across about the dvc film.. "the greatest turkey ever told".
"an awful book ..... by great acheivement turned into an even worse film".
"after all the hype, controversy and theological arguments, ron howard's adaptation of dan brown's all-conquering novel is finally with us but unfortunately it's a bit of a damp squib.".

I've read the book twice. The first time I raced through it, couldn't put it down. Liked it, recommend it to others.
I wanted to read it again before the movie came out as I knew I'd missed lots of the details. Second time around it was OK, but I realized I didn't think he was such a good writer. Still, I'm going to see the movie! And I'm in the middle of "Angels and Demons."

Marriage advice needed...am I being unreasonable?
by Virgochik inany comments appreciated because i can't think clearly right now!
here's the story.... .
hubby and i married 5-1/2 years ago.
-
Emma
No, you're not being unreasonable. You should go. If you don't fulfill something you've always wanted, the resentment will build up and that would be bad for your relationship. Tell him how much you love him, how much you'd love to see these places with him and how much it would mean to you to have him by your side, but that you be ok with him if he doesn't want to come along. Go with the tour or with friends and have a wonderful time.

Hateful Christian
by Dr Jekyll ini'm quite open minded, it takes a lot to shock or offend me but i found this really offensive.
how on earth can this woman justify calling herself a christian?!?!.
there are some really sick people out there, here's a church full of them.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g470rfjqci

They are sick. They've been in my town at least twice. If anyone could be demonized, this group would get my vote. Creepy.

What are you doing to stay healthy ??
by Genesis inim just wondering about what people of different are doing to stay healthy.
personally, im into bodybuilding since a couple of months and i love it !
im eating cleaner than ever (but not as i would like) and exercise 4 days a week.

I turned in my parking pass (saves about $50 a month, too) and walk in to work most mornings, about 3 miles. Lots of fresh veg's and fruit, organic as much as I can afford. I try to eat almonds and walnuts several times a week, as well as other quality protein. Really good dark chocolate every day! I need to get back to the free weights for upper body; I'm not getting any younger. My main focus is on staying active and mobile till the end!
And the new house has a beautiful, mature garden so I'm learning as I work. We have a good size vegetable garden and yard; takes lots of healthy time and energy.
