Assemblies also used to be "Free" and "Public Welcome!" I guess this has changed slowly over the years. I'd be interested in their explanation. How do they look for their increases when they're so closed?

there were sayings used over and over again to control my behaviour.
the biblical on bad associations spoil useful habits and another on just because everyone else does it doesnt mean you have to do it to, would you jump off a cliff just because other people do what were the sayings that bugged you?

i just got a phone call from someone i used to know, oh, about 25 years ago.
she and her cousin and i hung out together as single pioneers -- they got married, i got married, we lost touch.
well, turns out she now goes to the same congregation as one of the witnesses who works at my law firm -- the same one who, months ago when i started telling people i was no longer one of jehovah's witnesses, told me i could believe what i want but "don't make trouble for the rest of us" -- and evidently the two ladies got to talking and my co-worker gave her my phone number at home.
but my Spider Sense was tingling
Pay attention to the "Spider Sense". Instead of an invervention, I'd call this an ambush! I've experienced it; she may even lie use theocratic strategy to get you to see her. Oh, let's count some time!

just got off the phone with my sister.............she started talking about an ex-elder in her congregation and his "apostate" attitude, so i asked her what she considered "apostacy".
she says that's when you openly talk against the troof........i said "the bible says it's when someone denies jesus as having come in the flesh.".
anyway, we started talking about the pedophile problem within the organization and the people who have been disfellowshipped for speaking out about it.
I haven't tried recently. This is unflattering, but I consider them "dead heads" when it comes to thinking objectively about the wts. Some of the overzealous give over all thinking/reasoning to the org in blind faithfulness; I don't know what hope there is for them! I just don't try.
it was a emotionally packed week-end.

Thank you for sharing this deeply personal experience. You have been through many changes as well as losses and are still a strong person. Moving on with/from your circle will open new opportunities for you. I wish you the best .

if there was someone you were crazy about who went back to associating with jw's again and they asked you to come back too, only because to live dividedly for the rest your life would be just too hard and awkward.
keep in mind your role would be very limited, few meetings a month, couple hrs service a month etc.. i know "if" this was before me i would feel that i would never ever want to come back.
i don't believe it is the truth, can't stand the control among other reasons.

If a person loves another deeply, they will not ask you to do something that hurts you.
I tried to hang in for years because I knew it would break my mother's heart if I left; I finally just had to leave, and she is still heartbroken years later. It might have been the first time I took a stand onlyfor myself. Happily, it was the first of several life-altering decisions.
I could not go back.

The witnesses see it as "giving a witness." It wouldn't matter if not even one person listened - they are out, being seen, and "giving a witnesses for Jehovan" to the nations, for the angels, to show Satan, etc.
