Beards

so i started growing a beard 2 weeks ago and i am making some nice progress.

it has been noticed by many in my workplace and they give me great compliments.

my skin would get all bumpy from the constant shaving and i am so glad to be done with that form of cult control.. last year (i was pimo then) i worked in the video department at the regional convention.

When I was undergoing Bible study in India, I went to the convention for the first time with a one day beard. At the convention my BS conductor asked me why I wasn’t clean shaven. Hell... I should have recognized this is a tight control cult. But no knowledge about cults then

When I arrived in USA, I went to the FS without wearing a tie. Immediately the FS conductor gave his spare tie to me and told to wear it.

Actually in India, nobody wears a tie out in FS and most JW men wont even tuck in their shirts for the meetings, FS and assemblies. It’s a culture thing and also due to poor economic conditions.

Satan Hurled Out in 1914 - Will They Say It Was Never Taught?

since 2005, i have been through a lot with with wbts.

recently i came across a suggestions that they will start denying that they ever said satan was hurled out of heaven in 1914.. in my experience, it is one doctrine many ordinary members are clear about - you ask them what supposedly took place in 1914 and they'll say, "satan was hurled out of heaven, therefore world war i started.".

And then his comrades were cast out of heaven, in an order that started WW2, Vietnam war, gulf war and so on....

As if there hadnt been war at all before the first cast out.

And what a loving god - who casts out the devils to earth - instead of confining them in the billions of un inhabited stars and planets out there, or destroying them totally.

my pimi wife listens to a lot of the meetings on the phone with the speaker on.

when i am watching tv i hear the meetings in the background.

i just cringe with how a witless can't give a comment without having said jehovah at least two times.

Governing Body - Time in Ministry

is there any transparency in how many hours on the ministry the governing body members do on the ministry?

by this i mean the physical act of going door to door in their area.

i guess it is plausible that they would count overseas trips and working on publications as part of their ministry, but this is not what they encourage from the jw on the street.. is it possible for a gb member to be reproved or otherwise for not going out in service?

Most of the GB know its a scam they are running and FS is utter non-sense. So they would have their own excuses not to go door to door. Like pretending to be terribly busy…

No cult member would believe they are in a cult. They don’t know the real attributes of a cult, else why would they be entrapped in a cult.

All cults have a basic common thread. Us verse them. Meaning, we are special and god protected. The world is evil. If you leave, you would be destroyed.

What is the inside info on "Reasoning From the Scriptures?"

i understand why the witnesses won't actually "reason" from the scriptures; because they will have to come to grips with the fact that others have their own reasons, scripture-based, for believing differently than the jw's.. the "reasoning" book was supposed to arm the r&f with solid scriptural backing that could withstand most in-depth conversations.

so, why is it gathering dust now?

was there some doctrinal issue specifically?.

he was giving us attendance and baptism info and this was a side note... it is noted by another that when the question was asked after assembly was over, non seemed to hear the change.

When a person gets to the stage of Baptism, I don’t think he/she would ever mind about any questions asked in the Baptism talk. Because they are totally brainwashed and ready to accept anything from "Gods Organization" at that point.

Baptism Question: Would you stone to death any person, including your close relatives, that disagrees with Gods organization.

I am affirmative that the answer would be yes for the above

Stopping Thought Stopping.

im sure that many on this forum will be aware of the thought-stopping techniques that are taught by jws/wts to suppress difficult thoughts and overcome cognitive dissonance in favour of reverting back to belief in wts.. often in conversation these will be clear verbal cues that can sound unnatural during the course of a conversation, as though an individual is temporarily reading a script to overcome a difficult point.. my question to you all is this:.

are there any methods or resources that people are aware of that can help to break through a thought stopping mechanism when it is noticeably in effect?

a question perhaps, or technique that will encourage the individual to think the thought through in its entirety?.

I use the following whenever i ecounter a JW, to stop their THought Stopping: This would be said after exposing some facts to them about the ugly WT history).

If the JW, is well educated I try to rekindle their Educationalistic Ego.. Like. You are an educated person. Why dont you use your critical thinking to think this over.

Touch their free will criteria. Why dont you use your god given free will to make some research about this. Even the Bible warns us not o beleive everyone and anything.

If you value the word TRUTH, why dont you do some truthful research about this.
