  i've heard people say amway was a little culty for a business, and reminded them of jws in some ways.

  i'm not familiar with amway myself, can anybody here elaborate?.

  I I was dragged into an Amway meeting once. A friend of mine was in Amway. He invited me just to attend a business meeting and said that I need not get involved if I am not interested.

  He drove me in his car. Amazingly on the way, he listened to Amway Audio tapes on his car stereo, which was all about motivating, spreading and marketing the Amway products.

  When I was at the meeting place, the same Love bombs happened, as in a JW meeting. People seemed to be so genuinely interested in my earnings and boosted me that I can earn a lot.

  Same confessions from the Podium like… I achieved this, I became rich, Amway is good and so on. Finally a pot luck dinner was served. All this happened when I was a JW. It still didn’t strike me that my religion too is a cult like Amway.

  Perhaps I didn’t realize the modus Operandi of cults back then

  Advice on my JW Mother

  i need the advice of those of you who are exjw's on what to do about my still in mother.

  briefly, here's the situation: i am a born-in, never got baptised (thank the fsm), became an athiest about 2015 but haven't come out to anyone but my wife and some trusted friends.

  my mother was raised in the society and is a true believer, but was never as strict about it as some parents are when i was growing up.

  My mom and wife are still JW. My mom lives seperately and I got myself disassociated in a far away congregation. So far, the relationship with my mom and wife is as usual, except sometimes I start an argument with my wife to make her think

  My mom is too old to make her realize TTATT. Hence I dont open any Bibilical Issues with her. I dont react for any of her WT activities. Just getting along with her and doing all I can for her as her son.

  Had my mom been in the same congregation where I got disassociated, the elders would have poisoned her mind.

  My advice is, Just maintain your relationship with your mom and make the best out of it. Its totally impossible to make an old woman realize that they are in a cult.

  Who wrote the Bible?

  the wordings suggest much of the bible is written by false friends of god.

  to mention a few:.

  1) god planted a special tree to pay the way for suffering and death into the lives of his children.. 2) god protected cain who murdered his innocent brother out of sheer jealousy.

  Interpretation often takes you away from truth

  yesterday, my classmate was giving an example from her homeland on how people can give various interpretations which have nothing to do with truth.

  though studying in the us, she was closely monitoring what was happening in kerala (a small southern state of india), her birth place.

  last month saw unprecedent heavy rains wreaking widespread havoc in this small state with huge population (which is much more than australia’s population).

  Kerala state in India is the place where beef is taken as food by many.

  In addition to the Sabarimala accusation, Hindu fanatics attributed that God punished the state for eating beef, since cow is sacred in Hinduism

  This is how natural events get twisted as the wrath of God.

  In the Bible:

  Eve sinned and human suffering started.

  Suffering is natural in this planet. The Bible writer plugged an Eve’s story as the cause of suffering.

  The 10 plagues of Egypt

  Most of those disasters would have been natural, and the ignorant people back then attributed it as the wrath of god

  Jehovah killed 70K people because David took a census

  This should have been a Natural Plague - unknown that it was caused by microorganisms - for sure.

  And the list goes on......

  hi guys, long time without paying a visit to this site.

  today i returned to check a 'gossip' that is running around in brazilian exjw forums.. they are stating that is almost certain they will make a big change in their doctrine maybe this year yet in the annual meeting.

  they say people in warwick were commenting on this.

  A careful study of the scriptures indicate that the year 2020 would end the reign of false religions and the start of the great war of Armeggadon.

  Time left is so short. Should't we all put in 50 hours of FS everymonth - Except in North Korea, China and Singapore and all those Jehovah banned countries - and save as many lives as possible.

  J.W.Sisters are not recognized as part of the 144000 Anointed class by the Governing Body of Jehovah`s Witnesses and never have been.

  rev.14: 1-6 describes the 144000 as males who do not defile themselves with women and are classed as virgins.?.

  how does the governing body of j.w.`s explain that a man having a sexual relationship with a woman defiles a man?.

  isn`t this or shouldn`t this be an affront to women who are jehovah`s witnesses ?

  I began to realize that it wasn't the beliefs that allowed me to be JW......... it was the people.

  That is a very true statement. And its really amazing you recognized it's a cult, during the time when the internet wasn't there.!!!

  Why does it affect us so deeply?

  i was having a great chat with a valued friend and fellow forum member today on the phone.. we were discussing how deeply we all get affected by jw interactions - even years after fading or disassociating.. you know what i mean.

  those days when we run into jws who we considered to be our close friends.

  or "loving shepherds" who don't act kindly.

  It still deeply affects me (Even after 8 years of quitting) because my wife and mom are still in the cult and I'm a little suspicious that they may turn against me anytime, influenced by the cult
