  For Ex: If you are sick, go to the church priests who would cure you with magical oil. (don't go to the Doctor)

  Christians may spin this with a symbolic meaning. No, I had enough of it

  Do you (or did you) have much of a social life as a Jehovahs Witness.

  i ask this question out of interest, because as a jehovahs witness for some 26 years, i have always felt that there is an 'all work, no play' culture within the organisation.

  the organisation doesn't promote social gatherings.

  i could count on one hand each year how many get togethers we have had.

  We used to gather only with the Indian JWs in USA most of the time

  During those sleepovers, we would mostly talk about our experiences as a JW like "Jah is good, Jah is gracious, Jah gave me a bible study". I hated that because my inner gut was telling it was all fake.

  And then we would prepare for the WT study, go out in FS , and all the boring stuff like that.

  Looking back it gives me immense joy that I am out of this fake Bubble.

  Explain to him that you are willing to remove from the home everything connected with your form of Christianity, except your Bible, insisting that he does the same - no J.W. literature whatsoever allowed in the home

  I am an Ex JW and my wife is still a JW. I could completely understand your situation. My wife demonizes Christmas trees as well as festival lights. She never wishes me for my birthdays and pretends as if she doesn't know its my birthday, year after year.

  It was my greatest desire to plant a real Christmas tree in my home for which my wife vehemently opposed. I tried to convince her that this was Gods creation and there is nothing wrong to plant a real tree for its beauty. I finally planted without her consent. She still views it as demonic.

  I am taking it slow and steady, to make her realize she is in a CULT. Takes a lot of patience for sure.

  Bible is good if we look for implied truth

  thumbs-up gesture doesn’t covey much if we see only four fingers closed and thumb standing upward.

  but if we look for the implied meaning, then it is a positive, informal signal indicating a job well done, and saying ‘keep it up.’.

  similarly, biblical accounts don’t convey much if we see them as mere accounts.

  that is why was satan and his demons allowed to be in heaven for so long after they split from god?.

  if we did that then we are out of the congregation, members are shunned and also kicked out of families homes.

  when i was a jw i was fascinated with the mormon religion.

  i never believed a word of it of course, but i was interested in their religion like most boys were interested in star wars.

  i’ve read the book of mormon, doctrine & covenants, pearl of great price, book of abraham, watched their videos, read critical books by ex mormons etc etc… (strange at the time that i never did this with my own religion!

  i was walking out of the store and i passed a former jw associate of 20+ years.

  "keith"he was an elder, got df'd, lost his wife, got reinstated and last i heard started pioneering!so i see him as i'm walking to my parking spot.. i stop, look him straight in the face and yell from 20 feet away, "you're in a cult.

  you're in a cult, dude!".

  If your yell made you feel good that is ok.

  I would approach this differently. May be striking up a conversation about the various WT cover ups as well as to prove to them that I am happier now than as a JW before.
