Who is Jesus?

i’m not super familiar with jw theology concerning jesus.

The Biblical Jesus would have been an Ordinary guy who might have been impaled by the Romans for rebelling.

All other miracle and supernatural stuffs are made up, IMO.

"Armageddon is already here"; "the preaching work is done" -- rogue teachings in your congregation?

one of my jw sons seems to be putting pressure on his non-jw brother apparently to scare him into accepting the troof and start coming to meetings.

wild statements like our topic title, which i know are not supported at jw dot org, have been made to my non-jw son several times over the past year or so.

while i haven't been privy to the actual phone conversations i tend to believe that the jw son is being pressured by the local elders to cut ties with the non-jw since their conversations seem to degrade into arguments -- therefore tending to weaken the jws faith in wt teachings.. either my jw son is lying about what i would call rogue teachings (and this would disappoint me greatly) or he is in some close knit clique in his congregation which has secretly chosen to go rogue on certain wt issues.. based on many of the recent posts here about drastic money and wt organization problems this could be a sign of pending splits of certain congregation members.. what do you think?

When I was new in the cult, a bunch of sisters in my local congregation were talking that the preaching work is finished and big A would be any moment. I was enthralled. That was in 1997.

Seems jah and his myriads of angels are really working out on the implementation.

Is the Bible truly inspired?

so i was reading the book of daniel, starting with chapter 4 (nebuchadnezzar's famous tree chopping/banding dream where the 7 times is introduced) but i noticed that when you don't cherry pick verses and just read straight thru - it really seems like some children's book that was poorly written.

even though the borg says that this book as written by daniel, chapter 4 is clearly written by "king nebuchad·nezzar to all the peoples, nations, and language groups dwelling in all the earth" after the tree chopping business.

) of the rest of the chapters seem to be written in 3rd person (odd, if you are writing about your experiences).

Great Point. Why doesn't the inspired book talk about microscopic germs, at least the ones that causes deadly diseases. ?

It only talks about "all visible" serpents, pigeons, Donkeys and stuff and some fairy tale monsters. Not impressive.

A Little Direction Please

i'm an active elder, cobe, just got home from the meeting where i handled the treasures part and concluded by announcing a friend of mine has been d/f,.....blah blah blah...and over the last year have woken up.

i simply cannot spill my guts to my wife and children as it would be family suicide.

i have zero desire to bash, spread my feelings, or become an "apostate".

Congrats on talking the bold initiative Brian. You are progressing towards real happiness and freedom. Only you know your situations. Take it slow.

I was a JW and quit 8 years ago. My mom and wife are still in but no repercussions.

Others have advised here a lot, which is very valuable. Hence nothing new from me

Religion is just like Advertising!

a thought occurred to me today, that religion is just like a clever marketer or advertiser.

first , a "problem" is created, then the advertiser offers the "solution"!.

religion does the same!

Exactly!! . Religion is nothing but advertising. Especially Christianity and specifically those who go door to door. Like selling cosmetics.

At least if you buy or sell cosmetics, you get some tangible benefits!!!

Why does God need advertising? Only sloppy products do need advertising

What can the leadership at Watchtower do to turn things around?

let's play devils advocate here.. put yourself in the governing body's shoes.

they are well aware of all the issues they are facing.

they know their numbers (they 'do the math' as they say in the us).

Liquidate all their wealth and give it to people who lost their loved ones due to refusal of blood.
Give the rest to real charity.
Admit their misleading and cover ups.
GB should go and work(Real) for their living.
