unseen spirit world
The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike.” ― Delos Banning McKown
i know that a lot of the people on here have turned their backs on the idea of a deity deciding that god does not exist.
but what about the unseen spirit world generally such as poltergeists, jinns, voodoo, etc.
if you have become agnostic, atheist, or just don't care since leaving, do you think that there are spirits out there or have you decided that is also hokum?

hi guys .
i was wondering about the above , if a jw is allowed to remarry if a spouse has died, then what happens when they are resurrected at armageddon, do u land up with two wives/husbands ,,,,,,, makes no sense to me & can the jw's be so dumb not to think about this or have i got it wrong ?
and i will not be asking my uber jw husband , don't have the energy.. thanks.
They used to teach that those resurrected would be sexless, neither male or female (like the angels).
If angels are neither male nor female, why did they select only women to mate with ?
i recently had to take a trip with my family to bethel.
it was a bit torturous for a secret apostate as you can imagine.
but mostly just so boring.
olympic sized heated swimming pool at Bethel ?
I will loose my sleep tonight.
what is the reasoning/policy behind the practice that a jw can't attend an event such as funeral or wedding in another church?
i know of someone that didn't attend her older sisters funeral because it was held in a baptist church.
she waited outside until the service was over and then went to the family dinner afterwards.
Immediately after my baptism as a JW, I avoided numerous Birthdays, weddings (In Churches and temples), christening, funeral services and any other religious gatherings, hoping it was pleasing the almighty sky daddy.
This also pleased my fellow JWs and I was flattered by their support for my zeal towards true Worship
ONly if I had known then that Jehovah is a middle east tribal imagination.....
two years before i left jw world i came to a strange conclusion about the jw cosmology and the free will doctrine.. basically i came to conclusion that satan is right about the universal sovereign issue.
and i came with that just only using jws premises, no outside apostasy.
i just told to my sister what she thought about it, and she said to me: dont tell anyone about this!.
Jehvah has Free will but he cannot sin (As per the Bible say)
When Jehovah created humans, in his Image, he should have done the same. (That is, Humans should have free will but cannot sin)
(acts 9:15, 16) but the lord said to him: “go!
(revelation 17:6) ......and with the blood of the witnesses of jesus.
(revelation 1:5) "....jesus christ, “the faithful witness,”.
My 2 cents
And the Jealous God Jehovah allowed his Holy name to be removed from his holy book and kept silent about it for 1890 years, until CT Russel came to restore it. Does that sound good ?
i tend to think that many jws who joined the religion in their later years feel foolish or are embarrassed by their decision to become one of jehovah’s witnesses.
.
i’m not embarrassed by my years “in the truth “ because i was raised from infancy to believe everything was god’s word and who are we to question jehovah and his organization?
Minimus, You have a point. Certainly I consider myself a fool as I was impressed by the cult at 28 and got Baptized at 30. I also dragged my wife into it, who is still in the cult.
Those who were born in, yes, I consider them as innocent victims, who never (knew) had an option and most probably got baptized at a tender age
the circuit overseer, henry judson, came up to me during the circuit assembly.
"brother miller, it's been reported that your family may have a pumpkin in your window.
" he waited for an answer although he never asked a question.
During the late 1990’s our home in India hosted the weekly Book Studies. We were living in the 2nd floor and had let the 1st floor for rent. The rented people were Hindus and they used to make some colorful decorations on the common floor , most of the time. It would be nice to look at it, and it is somewhat attached to their belief system
The Elder who came for the Book study counseled us not to allow our tenant to display their religious Symbols in the common area. We didn’t care anyway.
in the real world, very few parents would disown their own children simply because they read a magazine that told them to do it.
very few people would forever completely ignore their own parents because an elder got up on a platform one day and announced that they no longer follow the same religion as you.. in the real world it just doesn't happen.
and yet, for 8 million jehovah's witnesses it's very a normal part of their world to treat "other people" differently than they'd treat each other.
Very true article on the Psychology of cults.
When I was leaving the cult, my JW (so called) friends warned me that I would be nothing for them if I leave. And they still behave like that for 10 years. Power of CULTS!!

Happy Halloween.
