Elder and CO just dropped by....

i haven't been to a meeting in over a year, and as you know as soon as you stop attending meetings/fieldservice the "conditional" love becomes more apperant.

the coordinating elder starts off by saying how much he loves and misses me, etc.

i ask him, when was the last time you called or texted me?

Great story, love it. I heard from my elderly JW that they get visit from CO and elder when there is lunch or dinner hour, so they can get free meal. When I visited them last summer, my elderly relative was making a lunch, we did not see each other for while, so she was kinda happy to see me and chat about life. Some elderly senility was clearly visible, but nice way. Right before the noon, I heard a door bell, and when I opened there were two individuals inquiring about my relative's well being, but clearly curious who I was. Because I did not know them, so I did not let them in as they tried, and I had closed door on them. My relative was opposite site of the house, so she did not hear them. When I had returned to kitchen, I mentioned there were two strange, unfriendly individuals, who wanted to get in... When my relative looked out of window, she saw them walking away.. She said, you know, it is lunch time, they wanted to stop by for free meal, they been doing it for some times and go around the JW community to get some free ride. Soon enough, I heard that later that week from other JW relatives as well, who live on limited income, while CO or DO is riding his ass in Audi.

Maybe your KH did not progress as much into leeching from others as it had happened in Eastern Europe.

The Problem with FAMILY

i had a dream that my mother had cut-me-off.

it was a painful dream for me...but it was only a dream.

Disfunctional families are not only JW domain. I seen it both in and out of KH. My evil JW aunt had disfunctional family, shunned her ex-jw child, never bothered to learn about grandchildren as she believed that they were Satan's pawn in quest to weaken her faith to the publishing company. Her other JW relatives had issues with laws, unpaid debts (Big A would take care of it), etc. My parents are close, but my sybling did not talk to me for years after I walked away. I had really first close time last summer almost after 20 years. We had missed on a lot of things, children, family, etc. The time lost cannot be fixed.

My wordly friends had disfunctional families as well. My good friend left family when he was 18 to join military to escape abusive parents, and have not ever talked to them or saw them for over 30 years. He has rastraining order against his parents and does not want anything to do with them. Other friend had wrench mother that was well know in my hometown as impulsive, argumentative woman constantly looking harrasing everyone around. Through the years, all her children left and her husband had divorces. She committed suicide. Only one child went to funeral. Other two did not. When I talked to them, they say they wish they had in life trully loving and carying mother, not a which who physicially abused them. So, you cannot choose your parents. Sometimes you had to let your family go and create family from people who cares about you.

I believe that any official government crackdown againt WT will be contraproductive, and will give the people a feel of persecution and martyrdom. They will still even more closer to the publishing house and will turn into more crazies that they are right now. If there are true violation of laws, like children abuse, stealing of funds, misuing tax status, then let law enforcement agencies to deal with them. However, forcing JW into illegality will entice more people and will make them more evaisive. You will notice that countries with widespread religious tolerance have the lowest growth rate of JW.

I can read any book without guilt, especially Early Christian Fathers, ancient and medieval philosophy, and history
I could date and married a person who I trully love
Obtained university education and secured stable job that pays bills and mortgage
Planning life as I see it fit without expecting that A will fix my problems
I dont have anyone interfering in my life
I do not have proselyte others

I have often seen JW`s supposed beleif of 1925 as the end .....It`s not what I remember

i could be wrong of course , but as far as i recall 1925 was not the date of armageddon , but was the date the" princes of the earth" would be resurrected .

the princes of course were faithfull men of old such as abraham issac and jacob, anybody who had a prominent part in gods favour.. witnesses at assemblies after 1925 were constantly awaiting to welcome the resurrected princes of the earth up until the late 1950`s.

these faithfull resurrected men were to lead the rank and file into the glorious new system of christs thousand year reign.. smiddy.

Should I meet with the elders?

so i posted my story somewhere on this board but long story short i have been expressing my doubts to my mom who is a jw.

i have been fading since december 2013 and went to a sunday meeting for the first time maybe two weeks ago.

i went only because i wanted to use the library that my hall has which had books published by the society from the early 1900's.

Generally, the elders are less concerned about answering your spiritual needs and question, but worried that you have deviated from momentary established doctrine. If they set mind that you do not agree with FDS, you will be DF's right out regardless what Bible say, what older WT publication had printed, or what you were told on DC last summer. Organization only cares about thorough loyalty and obedience, and will not tolerate anything else. Any questioning or disagreement with a current teaching with DF's you. WT does not care about your doubts, it cares only maintaining control over their members.

When you will meet with elders, you will certainly go infront of JC which has a goal to get you and get you out. I am not sure how is it in your country, but in the Czech Republic the WT uses traveling elders who are called execution squads that brag how they they got someone on apostate thinking and got him or her DF's. They do not even bother to study with you to get you back to the light. If the elder was concerned about your spiritual well being, he will offer to study with you and go through analysis of your doubt. Most likely the meeting is about assest the damage and report back to higher channels what to with you.

i'm sure topics like this have already come up but they tend to get hilarious with the absolute absurdity that goes on in the kh.

i was once counseled for not shaving after two days.

i was also counseled by a sister for eating lucky charms cereal.

Counseled for reading too much wordly, religous literature. One elder saw me reading Eusebius. I had also at my library St. Augustine City of Good and Confession. Over the years I had several books from Loeb Classical library which did not go too well with zealous elders who once were at my house.
For studying foreigner language and talking foreigner JW during convention without approval

i think the organization is worried most about how jws will stay loyal to their families even as it rejects the admonition of the gb and elders..

I tend to agree with Steve that biggest threat to WT is apathy. World with the most prosperous population and the largest economies are becoming religiously indifferent. Asia represents half of the human race, with fastest growing economies like China were education plays key role in the person's identity. The same is valid for Europe - Western and Eastern, and most of Anglo-Saxon world. USA is the only industrial country that went through various religious awakening and gave world bunch of crazies and it is only western country where religion plays a dominant political role. Even there, the rise of religiously indifferent population undermines the growth of crazy, charismatic, dooms cult. WT will only have chance in countries with low level of education and easily influenced by charismatic, religious leaders. This religious apathy, indifference, and outright aversion toward organized religion present the biggest threat to JW.

Could i possily be one of the sealed?

i went to the meeting last night, (with the start of a beard) and going throught he book study i had a thought.

god our "heavenly father" wants us to have a personal relationship with him because he is love.

well my brain disconnected from this thinking because if the bible was "written primarily for the anointed" and the benefits in the bible can only be mine because of "association" with the anointed, then i can never have a personal relationship with god or jesus.

None of the tribes of Israel exists anymore. Not everyone who is a citizen of Israel is Jew and not every Jew is interested to live in Israel. How I know? I am married to one. None of the mentioned tribes of the Revelation has whatsoever association with a current state of Israel, where majority of people do not give a rat about Revelation. To whom John wrote and dedicated his book is a guess that is 1900 years old. Back in the 100AD the early Christians were already confused on the meaning of the book.
