A question about fading....
by Tornintwo ini understand that many on this forum are undertaking a slow fade, over months, years even.. can i ask what is the benefit of that instead of a fast fade?.
as i understand it, the elders only have to deal judicially with people who are still active witnesses, known in the community as witnesses, having contact and influence with witnesses etc.
so surely the sooner you stop attending meetings the better.

I faded on the spot. Just decided I do not want to go to KH and I do not believe WT is the channel of God's communication. I just could not take it anymore. Everyone is in different personal setting, so there is no universal good or bad answer on quick or slow fading. I was single, was living on my own, financially secured, so I could care less what anyone else thought. -

Are Jehovah's Witnesses marriages even legit?
by Joliette ini ask this because of the circumstances behind why they get married and who they get married by.
i know people say that they are really in love, they love jehovah, etc, but are these marriages even legit.
i've talked to older jw's sister who are now widowed, some of them say that they were trapped in a marriages.

Legality of the marriage is determined by country laws and regulations, and it will differ from country to country. In Czech Republic, all marriages are secular and civic contract which must be filed at the local municipal court. Even religious service and wedding ceremony requires official signature by the municipal clerk. While elders can perform marriage ceremony in the KH which is considered religious site, the validity of the marriage is determined by signature of the municipal clerk. Therefore, marriage licensing and validity will differ across the globe. -

No worries, apology accepted.
What I remember from WT world there were indeed two stories of Jesus on boat during the storm. This is not unique to JW, but to mainstream Christian religions for centuries. The moral story from both events is different and have different outcome (Jesus calms the storm, while at the other Jesus walks on water and lets the storm proceed).

Grags, welcome to the JWN. However, this is a site primary for ex-JW community and people who are somewhat connected to Jehovah Witnesses either through family, friends, and other association.
I really am not interested in anyone's negativity when it comes to our creator.
This pretty much sum up, why I should bother to explain two different stories depicting Jesus on boat in storm, something that was already explained by Catholic Church 450 years ago.

Crazy things said by Higher Rank Witnesses
by GrownMidget init was the week when circuit overseer comes and my relatives wanted to offer the food.
i had got my school friend, a muslim girl, going into the meetings and she actually progressed and went to the field service, but never got baptized and one day she just disappeared.well anyway, this overseer comes for the free lunch and then when we are sitting in the table with his wife and my relatives, the muslim girl comes as the subject.
overseer throws out this absurd asshole joke that because their family doesn't like witnesses his father will come with a truck and drives it through the kingdom hall wall and then it explodes.

Around 1990 we had district overseer visiting our KH. It was turbulent era, communist regime just felt apart, and people started enjoying a breath of freedom. So, I go with this dude into field service, just two of as (yes big privilege of having two cousins as an elder), and he started to mumble like everything shows the last days. He told me when he reads a Revelation, he reads today's newspaper. He tried that wording on this field service through very well-to-do neighborhood. It was a disaster. He could not comprehend, that overall atmosphere people was festive and everyone was happy to be free. It was exactly opposite. Stores finally were getting goods, business opened, JWs were legalized, and someone come to stranger about prosecution and food shortage.

Did you know anyone who commited suicide in the org?
by JH inback in 1991, a young brother maybe 18 years old living next to my place committed suicide.
his father expected him to be very zealous just like he was, but the son never wanted to be like that.
he was always controlled by his father.

In my KH in CZ we had elderly woman. She was good friend of my mom, usually sitting next to her. We also spent time at assembly in Prague-Strahov in 1991. She had first suicide attempt by stepping in front of local single street train car, which catapulted her off the side, horrible crippling her. Couple months later, she destroyed all her personal items, cut her cloths, and killed her self at home.
I know a case when entire family drove south of Prague to the river, put rubber hose through window into the exhaust pipe and killed themselves. Man, woman, and two of their children. Several year later, different family in different KH did the same. Both cases were covered by national media.

What is happening in the world for Abrahamic religions is disappearing middle ground moderate Christians/Muslims/Jews where the faith and religion was never fundamental issue and was more or less social, cultural, and community event. What is left are fundamentalist, religious extremists and masses people indifferent to religion. -

JWs have more good points than bad
by lsw1961 in1) many who were on the destructive path have been transformed by their teachings (this includes me who was once vicious, and presumptuous and atheistic).
2) equal monthly pay to all members of the bethel community regardless of whether they are bc members or sweepers.
this is something that still remains as an unattainable dream for the world.

There is no denying for many of as ex-JW that there were some good points which I kept even after WT like smoking. I never smoke once cigarette in my life. I was not even trying after WT. If WT were channel of God's communication, they would have non-smoking policy since 1874, but this came 100 years later!

In your case, you are not enjoying your lives even after coming out of JWs as you are still worrying about what JWs are doing and attacking them relentlessly..
Funny and entertaining. JW have according census in my native country the lowest income from all registered religious groups, highest poverty rate (even gypsies are ahead of JW), and lowest educational achievement. No other socio-demographic group in the country is on the bottom as Jehovah Witnesses.
The sweetest revenge for any ex-JW is successful, happy, and fulfilling life after KH and not slaving for publishing house stuck in 19th century mindset.
