man i had some chinese food tonight and it like must have an addictive chemical in it.
i couldn't stop eating it.
my first job was at a chinese place washing dishes and i ate the stuff all the time then and never got sick of it then.. perhaps it is demonized eh!.
I used to eat Chinese food almost every day when I worked on the road, and it does seem addictive! I eventually got sick of it for a while. I like Thai food alot, and I know a good Vietnamese restaurant that I like too.
But demonized??? 
Well, maybe I'm demonized too!

This DOES NOT sound like a good thing! It almost sounds like a virus - you go to Bethel, catch it, then go home and spread it to others. Kind of like SARS. Maybe people who've visited Bethel should spend a few weeks in quarantine upon return.

the jws always give a lengthly explanation as to why they don't celebrate christmas or birthdays, and then always add the final statement "besides, we give gifts throughout the year!".
yeah, right!
okay, lets get an unofficial count of all the people who actually did get gifts on other days of the year.
My mother became a JW first in our family, and I did some years later. No other family members were ever JW's. Once she became a witness, no one ever received any gifts from her again. Not her children, grand children, or great grand children. But she was always quick to use the statement that "we give gifts all year round".

paul mccartney did a concerty in red square -- many russians admitted music is universal and rock music and the beatles in particular had a hand in the downfall of communism.
my brother (who works in london) has just scanned in and sent me viz magazine with the new character - and he said "what i thought was funny though was it showed all jw's as radio controlled robots acting like the borg" my question is -- if you criticize jws the ywill refuse to listen --but is it just possible with humor like this -- it might just make them think --- so most young witnesses listen to rock music -- but do you think that humor can help bring about the demise/reform of the wtbts
There were a few times when I would be watching TV with some other JW's and something funny about JW's would come on. All the others viewed it as "persecution", but I usually got a laugh out of it. After a few cold stares I learned to surpress my laughter about those things when I was around other dubs. Talk about a persecution complex! It's like they look for it!

i can honestly say that as a loyal(semi loyal) dub for 15 yrs i can count on one hand the amount of negative articles i saw.
i'm not sure if i tuned them out or if there just seems to be more these days.
even with all the negative publicity now, if you ask a dub they are totally unaware of it.
Once, years ago I watched about 5 minutes of a program on TV where some DF'd XJW's were being interviewed. Sad to say, I thought they were just malcontents, and, being the good little dub that I was, I quickly changed the channel. If only I knew then what I know now, I would have watched the entire program. I would have probably left the org alot sooner.
But then, I have this bad habit of learning everything the hard way.

Some years back I was unemployed and in the unemployment office. I found a job posting there that seemed to be a perfect fit, yet when I spoke to the job counsellor about it she discovered the position was filled and refused to give me any contact information for the employer.
I got a bit angry at this, so I snatched up her file on the employer and walked out of the office with it. I went straight to see the employer, told him what my skills were, and explained that he needed me whether he realized it or not. I guess he was a bit surprised at my approach, but told me I could start the following Monday.

well, after thinking about all the bad experiences, i just wanted to know, did you know any good elders, and what were they like?
probably unconventional, right?
one of the only elders i knew that i truly thought was a wonderful person is my father.
Of all the elders I knew, only 2 or 3 ever treated me maliciously. The majority seemed to be sincere, just misled or unqualified for certain things. Sometimes it only takes a few bad ones to make them all seem bad.
