I recall Farkel had some interesting threads on Beth Sharim, or at least has some interesting tidbits of info on it.

The Purpose of Beth Sarim
by VM44 inbeth sarim, the house in san diego rutherford had built and lived in.. from the proclaimers book, page 76,a few years after brother rutherford?s death, the board of directors of the watch tower society decided to sell beth-sarim.
"the watchtower" of december 15, 1947, explained: "it had fully served its purpose and was now only serving as a monument quite expensive to keep; our faith in the return of the men of old time whom the king christ jesus will make princes in all the earth (not merely in california) is based, not upon that house beth-sarim, but upon god?s word of promise.
but, did the watchtower of december 15,1947 state what was the purpose beth-sarim had fully served?.

Back-country skied and the temperature dropped to -31 celcius... in the tent it was a balmy -15. I have experienced colder... -35 with wind. It's brutal. I didn't have the time to figure out wind chill.
Hottest? 40 celcius. Too hot.. I can't stand it too hot.

Do your acquaintances know you?re a JW (or former witness)?
by senselessly sane ini remember deliberately not telling people when i was growing up, and cringing when my mom made an effort to tell my teachers.
although i no longer hide it, there are still people i consider friends who do not know i grew up jw.
sometimes it?s just that the subject of religion does not come up often, and when it does, it would be weird to say something now after i?ve known someone for years and have never mentioned it.

I tell them. It is emberassing, but I don't like the fact that I have to hide my past. Remember, I wasn't brought up in it.

Help...How should I handle this...
by fyahzwife in...dilemma?
my husband's ex-wife(a baptized jw) has been sending hateful messages with his children(a 4 and 10-year-old), whenever they come to visit us.
(i'm expecting), and she says hateful things about our unborn child to her children, and sometimes they repeat things they overhear her say about me and the baby.

Just remember that the elders will consider you a 'pagan' and take your words accordingly.

I say don't worry about it. Unfortunately, I ratted out a friend, too. This person had no interest in da troof, and told me not to worry about it. Just got reproved and never went back.
Besides, how in the hell can you find him now?
Let it go.

Help with Hornet's

how do you get rid of a nest that big?

We had a hornets nest that was in an old car chair stored under our deck. We dragged it out in the pitch black, very quickly. Ran into the house, waited a while, back out, doused it with gas, lit it, end of hornets nest.
Wait till it's pitch black. They won't find you, but you sure as hell wouldn't want to stick around to find out if they do!
If you're too scared, you could call an exterminator. Completely unnecessary, though.

A great free program for managing your pics...
by Elsewhere inhere is something that google is giving away... it is called picasa.
it does a great job of organizing all of the pics on your computer into chronological and topical order.
it also let's you use a few basic image editing tools such as red-eye reduction, cropping and enhancement.

Any spyware or crap on it? I'm pretty wary of 'freeware', so to speak.

Yes, orbi. I heard the same thing. Originally they wanted to buy the show, but Showcase refused. It is right up HBO's alley, with awesome shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm. Too dammed funny, that show too.
I don't know how they did it, but they showed what a typical pothead / criminal is really like. Tonite is the episode before they harvest they're pot. The following episode they had Rita McNeill (a famous Canadian Singer) kidnapped along with her crew and they were forced at gunpoint to harvest they're pot, because the cops were on to them.
Too freakin' funny.
The dude that never, ever wears a shirt is just too dammed funny too. Always wanting a store-bought cheeseburger, and willing to pimp himself out in front of the burger place to get one. Or hitch-hiking to get to the burger shop without his shirt on.... LOL!
