I would have to agree... he is probably completely oblivious. Toxic family sucks.

Post-wedding thoughts
by Nosferatu ini found something out yesterday that kinda bugs me.
first of all, let me go back to 1992.. i was 14 at the time, and my half-brother (on my mother's side) was getting married.
my mother decided not to attend because her ex-husband was going to be there.

Elder visits after disassociating?
by davidsf ini heard that after a jw has been disfellowshipped, elders will still periodically visit the person, once a year?, to see if his situation has changed and might be interested in studying again.
my question is, what if a jw disassociated himself?
some elders i have been avoiding for 10+ years discovered where i live and tried to visit me.

Hi David,
You can or cannot expect a visit... usually when you least expect it. They just ignorantly drop by.. you could be having dinner, cutting the lawn... entertaining real friends... they do love they're control.
They are supposed to visit once a year. Having said that, they usually do not. I have been out for aboot 7 years and they have only called on me once.
You will probably hear many similar stories like mine.

2000 US Election - was it bogus?
by talesin ini have been thinking about this as a topic, and after reading the following comment by bikerchic on another thread, i think it is relevant, and would like to hear the american's thoughts on this.he never should have been president and it's a shame that we as us citizens let him get away with cheating his way into office.
should the supreme court have decided the presidency?
should there have been a recount?

We finally saw Fahrenheit 9/11
by Mulan indave got home early on wednesday so we hustled off to the afternoon showing.
(cheaper seats).
it was amazing...................very compelling, and thought provoking.. one of the most upsetting things was towards the end when he revealed that of all 96 (not sure of that number) members of congress (senate and house) only 1 member had a child in the military, actively serving.

deceptive editing
Yup. That's what the movie appears to be to me. Truth combined with utter sensationalism. That's why I don't want to see it... and I don't support america or the war in iraq one bit.

Is It Possible To Reason With A Typical Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus infrom what i can see, it's nearly impossible to reason with a witness, even if you might consider them somewhat intelligent.

People who are 'blinded' or want to believe in what they hear will never change. They want it to be truth... so they accept it, plug they're ears, shut they're eyes tight, and scream LA LA LA.... so they can't hear the real truth.
Jehovahs Witnesses sure can dish out crap about other religions! When it comes to other religions or other people doing the same back to them, they call it persecution.
(yup, I was one of them too.)
So to those who close they're ears, shut they're eyes, and scream, please feel free to do so. Logic and time is the ultimate judge. Unfortunately, many find out when it's too late and they're whole lives are ruined by a dream that is not at all what reality is.
Can you believe that they actually accept the 'library card' excuse? Or the coverup of child molesters... yet they still believe! Why?
Because where else will they go when they're lies are brough out in the open for them to see? Where will they go? They're entire existence... families... everything is there! Outside are 'the dogs' or whatever the hell we are called... apostate... pigs... assholes... whatever.
Most cope by drinking, or just forgetting what they heard. Sure, other religions are babylon the great... the great whore... but oh no.. not the governing body of jehovbers.... no no no.. infallible men, yes, but no, no no... never never never wrong.
The thing that witnesses fail to realize that time is the ultimate judge. Is what they are saying real? Now you have to be pretty dammed delusional to realize that the botchtower has produced outright garbage about they're 'loving' organization.
Sorry... I'm rambling.
What I'm trying to say is you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

But just remember; they have 'the troof' and the 'troof' set him free. He's in spiritual paradise... er um... delusion land...

"Take, eat. This is [estin] my body."
by Earnest inapart from the references in the gospels to the last supper (matthew 26:26; mark 14:22;luke 22:19) where the loaf is [estin] christ's body, there is also the remarkable passage in john 6:54-56 :he that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, and i shall resurrect him at the last day; for my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
he that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union with me, and i in union with him.. .
now we know that the nwt translates matthew 26:26 as "...this means my body" and explains in the footnote "lit., "is", in the sense of signifying, importing, representing.

I don't believe in the bible anymore so I don't read into that Jesus character.... I don't symbolically or otherwise eat flesh or blood....
Those who do have 'everlasting live'.... he lied though. There are all sorts of other conditions on that.
My question is why is 'jesus' so blatantly misleading you and others with that scripture? Sorry... that doesn't sound like any messiah to me.... if he wanted something done you think he would have had the brains to put it in writing... and his 'father' who wanted his life record to be preserved should have done one hellova lot better a job at writing it down.
In other words... well, you fill in the blank. I am better at those kinds of riddles than this 'messiah', and am stupider, not as perfect, and a total moron.
I could be wrong though.... if I am, I have some serious questions of management styles of his father.

Is There ANYTHING That You Still Believe In From The JWs?
by minimus indo you believe in hell again?
the trinity?
the "slave"?
-
shamus
I believe in absolutley nothing that those people believe in. I do believe that people in the "high-control group" have to want answers.... I don't believe in pushing answers on them when they are still in brain-zap mode.
After all, most of them have family, friends, they're whole life in it. By pushing the truth about "the troof" you push them away.
Common sense and time have a strange way of sorting out truth from full-on bible-based (rolls eyes) "reality" where people will kiss tigers and play with serpents whilst dancing about the dasies forever and ever... er um... after armageddon, and after the final 1,000 years test.... or whatever the ef those goofballs are teaching now. It changes too... what was I saying? How manymore tests are they going to have?
Oh wait... I don't give a crap either way because it's complete b.s.
