Most of the forum posters are adults, and many being INTJ's at that, and he's questioning the logic ability of adult X-JW's here? Yeah.....there is a bit of arrogance in the OP.

The Illusion of Superiority
by Coded Logic inafter reading dozens and dozens of posts and hundreds of comments, it seems to me that a great many people on this forum think that since they figured out ttatt, they must therefore be a highly intelligent and incredibly rational individual.
let me take a moment to congratulate everyone.
its a big step to figure this out - i know.. that said, it doesn't make you a genius!

The Real Reason For No More Bookstudies.
by ctrwtf inso i was just thinking about my days at wtf and driving out for book study when it dawned on me.. bethelites are given a stipend for travel based on nyc public transportation.
depending on how you pay let's just call it a $5.00 round trip.. if you drive your care you're also reimbursed for mileage at the standard irs rate.
let's round that down to .50 per mile.. if four bethelites get in a car and drive an average of 30 miles to the (former) bookstudy the society is spending 4x$5.00 for the stipend plus and additional $30.00 for mileage.

I'll go away with (1) to get away from Pedo liability, (2) fear of apostacy in small groups, (3) save money.
Just another flip-flop from the flip-flopping cult.

Great 80's movie. So much like Watchtower control and what most JW's actually look like behind the pretty clothes, fake smiles and judgemental superior attitudes. The quote below is considered one of the all-time best movie quotes.

Another flip-flop from this flip-flopping cult. Very true that it was dictated who got KM's. The instruction was DF'd people certainly were not to get them. This is nothing but about saving money. Why did they act like it was such a big "theocratic" deal before? More people will see that the Jehovah Witness religion is nothing more than a man-made man-lead cult.

144,000 New Light update
by goingthruthemotions ini updated the list of partakers to 2013 (see below)...if i was to predict as to what new light might be coming down the borg poop shoot may be.
i would predict that they need to do something about the 144,000 being a literal number.. for two reasons:.
1. the number of partakers is increasing every year.
-
AlphaMan
There will be no new light on the 144,000. The number will remain literal. Somethings you can't change without exposing the whole fraud, and causing the house of cards to fal down. This is one of those doctrines. The BG was very lucky to get the rank & file to buy the "over-lapping generation" and "only the GB is the F&DS" new light changes. They would be pushing it if they went to a "144,000 is now figurative" doctrine this late in their time of the end. They will keep explaining away increases in partakers as people more bat-shit crazy than regular JW's who really are of their anointed 144,000 class.

the one thing I have learnt is that people who are so pro guns never want to hear how the rest of the world regard them....
Two things here.
1. We Americans are sorry the rest of the world is jealous, and does not have the freedom to own guns.
2. We Americans really don't give a shit how they view us. LOL

I've been Love-Bombed
by GoingGoingGone inso my husband and i are on vacation.
we are in another country visiting his non-jw family.
we lived here for many years, and our closest jw friends are all here, albeit a 4 hr.

In my family, the JW cycle is broken.
.
I love hearing people use this phrase. It means the Watchtower influenence is broken. The family has true hope for the future, and the family relationships will be based on true love for family and not on conditional GB bullshit & whims.

Is there a list of JW contradictions / double standards anywhere?
by BenRichards inas i mentioned in a recent thread, i've relatively new here.
have been lurking for a few weeks and just started posting.. one of the things i'm finding interesting about this site is how often someone posts a set of jw published material that contradicts each other.
for example the other day someone posted about lecithin.

Welcome to the new folks here.
A major double standard is all the JW's that went to prison over the neutrality issue because the Watchtower considered alternative service a compromise of their faith. Nowdays, guess what......the Watchtower allows alternative service in those situations.

Would you go to church?
by Coded Logic ini have an unspoken rule that if someone ever invites me to a church - that i haven't been to before - i will go.
even though i'm an atheist i'm still interested in the experiance.
just like i'm not into basketball but i would like to go to a game sometime to feel the energy of the crowd.. growing up as a jw i've never set foot in another church.

I've been out since 95' and have only attended 1 church service. Visiting Notre Dame in Paris we went inside and they were having a Catholic service. I started out in the back, but ended up working my way to about 50 feet from the Priest. Very cool experience for me being a former JW. I would have no problem attending other church services for the experience. I would love to be invited to a church to speak out against the Watchtower or answer people's questions about JW's. I've not attended another JW meeting since I left 19 years ago.
