Memorial - What are people actually thinking during it?
by asleif_dufansdottir ini had posted some of this on another thread, when i thought it might be fun to have a thread of "what is actually going thru people's minds" when they are sitting there at the memorial...
"i don't care what mom says, i'm never going to this dumb thing again.
she could at least let me have my gameboy if she's going to make me come to these dumb things.

Don't buy a LitterMaid!!
by asleif_dufansdottir inok, this is kind of lame, but if i keep one person from wasting their money.... those of you who don't know about this, there is such a thing as a 'electric cat box' that scoops itself.
it's not that i'm lazy, but i have 3 cats, and i take pride in keeping cat smell down to zero or close to it.
most people actually comment when they come into my house, that they are amazed they can't smell a cat box.

Argh, why don't I learn?
by asleif_dufansdottir ini am such a procrastinator!
why do i put of working on things until i can't put it off any more?
here it is 4:20 a.m., and i am just now finishing my exam for class tomorrow (our exams for this class are in essay format, we are given a question on thursday and have to turn in a 5-page answer the next tuesday...and these are thoughtful and involved questions, no banging out quick answers).

The Environment, Nature, Wilderness, etc
by asleif_dufansdottir inas i'm leaving in a bit to go have drinks with paul ehrlich (those of you who've heard of him, yes, that paul ehrlich - steven is so excited!
), i've been trying brush up a bit on his writings, research, etc, and i was just wondering.... the main thing that attracted us to the jws was the promise that the earth would be restored and that all the damage done to it would be corrected.
we've always been environmentalists, but environmentalists that wanted to base their views on good solid research.. were a lot of you attracted mainly by the hope that the earth's problems would be 'fixed'?.

JW literature table on campus
by asleif_dufansdottir inas i've mentioned before - most weekday mornings the jws have a table set up by the fountain on campus at asu.
i never see anybody talking to them.
mostly they have just been sitting there with all the literature on display, talking to each other.. however, the last few days i've noticed something strange.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, please
by asleif_dufansdottir ini'm so nervous!.
i just started grad school this year, and had a teaching assistantship this last fall.
it paid a few thousand dollars for 20 hours work per week, but the important thing was that it came with a waiver of out-of-state tuition and part of in-state tuition.

Choosing another religion?
by asleif_dufansdottir ina discussion on another thread made me wonder about what happens when we finally come to the conclusion that the society is full of sh*t.
did you take some time to 'get your religious bearings' before contemplating joining another religion?
or, was it a strong religious belief that brought you out of the jws?

How do you find whose territory you're in?
by asleif_dufansdottir inhey, folks,.
we're moving next week, and i've been thinking about sending a pro-active do not call letter to the approprate congregation, just so i don't have to mess with them calling.
is there an easy way to find out which congregation's territory my new place is in?
