90 years ago today...
by sir82 in...in the 11th our of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, world war i ended.. the armistice was signed at approximately 5 am that day, but was not to go into effect until 11 am.
after more than 4 years of slaughter, after over 8 million military deaths (and more than 6 million civilains killed) and 21 million + wounded, senseless battles continued to be fought for 6 additional hours.
men were after glory, revenge, under orders from likely insane commanders, a myriad of reasons.

Jesus Wept ? Now...Jesus Laughs...
by Rabbit in...if he exists, of course.. i'm so glad i simply don't care about religeous(sp) stuff anymore.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081109/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_israel_brawling_monks/print;_ylt=avlmgpj2s3zkcv59pufda_quewgf.
monks brawl at christian holy site in jerusalemby matti friedman, associated press writer matti friedman, associated press writer2 hrs 5 mins agojerusalem israeli police rushed into one of christianity's holiest churches sunday and arrested two clergyman after an argument between monks erupted into a brawl next to the site of jesus' tomb.. the clash between armenian and greek orthodox monks broke out in the church of the holy sepulcher, revered as the site of jesus' crucifixion, burial and resurrection.. the brawling began during a procession of armenian clergymen commemorating the 4th-century discovery of the cross believed to have been used to crucify jesus.. the greeks objected to the march without one of their monks present, fearing that otherwise, the procession would subvert their own claim to the edicule the ancient structure built on what is believed to be the tomb of jesus and give the armenians a claim to the site.. the armenians refused, and when they tried to march the greek orthodox monks blocked their way, sparking the brawl.. police spokesman micky rosenfeld said police were forced to intervene after fighting was reported.
they arrested two monks, one from each side, he said.. a bearded armenian monk in a red-and-pink robe and a black-clad greek orthodox monk with a bloody gash on his forehead were both taken away in handcuffs after scuffling with dozens of riot police.. six christian sects divide control of the ancient church.

MY PROJECT IS (FINALLY) FINISHED!
by Mary infor those of you who are interested, the project i've been working on for the last few months is finally finished.
i originally did a thread about it back in april: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/156497/1.ashx.
it seems that alot of us still have family members in the religion and have not infrequent arguments with them about some of the beliefs and practices.

Do you "think" that JW's and Born-Agains are "addicted" to religion?
by booker-t ini must admit i never really thought of religion as an addiction until i was reading a story about a girl that was a strict "pentacoastal" and followed all of the rules of the church until she became fed up with it all and left.
and then she went to an even "stricter" church until her therapist told her that going from church to church is like a new "high".
and when you think of some of the lingo that jw's and born agains use it might just as well be considered an addiction.
