@Snare&Racket-"Ironically the WT is portraying a young JW man"
you are so right on this, I kept rolling my eyes when I saw this piece of fiction to notice.
so i had to see what the hubbub was about.
pointed my browser to the tv site and started watching the streaming video of the prodigal son.. here's my review:.
first, not a lot of dialogue.

i've heard about his bombastic, overly patronising, cartoon-ish delivery before, but i'd never actually seen it...until now.
and i should add, this religion bears little to no relation to the one i left 6 years ago.. .
.
Outlaw, I was thinking: don't they have a dedicated team of seamstresses and tailors on staff that could have adjusted those inseams? Also, there's the pinkie ring for all the world to see again-it's distracting.

i thought you guys would like it.
required accessories (not included): new world translation of the holy scriptures, reasoning from the scriptures.
OMG, I thought this was a joke. I was going to suggest a square on the board that sends you to the elder's room (for loving counsel/reproof) and the player loses a turn.
I can just see them prayin' on the set a la Pat Robertson with eyes firmly shut. Shoot, if you donate enough on your debit card, they might even mention you in the prayer- "there's a pioneer brother who needs $495 to pay his garage apt. rent, please Jehovah see to it that he receives that money from a fellow brother that has a good paying job..."
i've just been informed by a jw apologist that regarding the 2 witness rule in cases of child abuse, the child himself counts as 1 of the witnesses.
he also stated that if 2 children complain about abuse seperately, the 2 children then count as 2 witnesses.. any thoughts please?.
.
Matthew chapter 18 clarifies the principle found at Deut. 19 in that the "two or three witnesses" were brought in by one person to be witnesses of the genuine attempt to settle a dispute with another person (brother). This arrangement was not intended to be used as the final word when determining whether or not a serious crime was committed. If you read a few verses down at Deut. 19:17, the priests and judges were supposed to "search thoroughly" into any accusations of wrong-doing. Why the WT insists on scriptural cherry-picking is beyond reason.
good morning.
want to attend?.
kingdom ministry school.
What about this: "How to sheperd the brothers"
maybe this: "How to give scriptural counsel"
or this: "How to remember that single sister's name in the wallflower section that always gives annoying (heartfelt) comments during WT"
probably this: "How to be vigilant during judicial stake-outs" (homework assignment after Day 1)
definitely this: "How to conduct an investigatory meeting to determine 'loose conduct...with greediness'" aka questions your were afraid to ask but are dying to know.
i havent been going door to door saturday mornings for since i can't remember when.
i have been putting in regular reports to the congregation but the last time i actually went on a door was probably six months ago or so and it has been at least 2 years since i did a saturday morning.
9:30 we showed up to the group arrangement, we waited outside because we were not sure that it was the right place.
It was an eye-opener when the CO (Azar) openly made allowance for breakfast breaks during the meeting for field service, "getting your vitamin T for the morining (convenience store tacos)" he called it. Geesh, it looked like he ate them all!
i am still in & gradually fading.
i have always wondered why alot of jw's that i know are really into alot of sci-fi stuff like star wars, i robot, x-men stuff etc.
i mean they take it another level with this fantasy stuff.
NoMoreHustle, this is very true in my locale. Last year a pre-teen kid (of JW parents) won the costume contest at our area's Comic-Con with a pretty good redition of the "demonic" Edward Scissorhands character! Another sister that attended dressed as Princess Leia was later counseled by the elders for "idolatry".

I like the one that says, "Stop Believing Everything!". Yea, that is where I am at this point.
as we know, it seems that many witnesses "suffer" from "illnesses" at times.. now , before anyone scolds me for being insensitive or unfeeling, i am not mocking those who really suffer from illnesses of any sort.
i am having a go at those that jump on the bandwagon of the popular illness, which actually makes real sufferers feel jaded.. i am referring to the way that many witnesses who are actually damaged as a result of the constant "fear.obsession.guilt" of jw propaganda, often seem to "contract the current illness going around", or blame it on that instead of looking at the real cause.. im sure it is a subconcious result of the burdensome pressure of jw life that brings it on.
instead of seeing the draining effect on their lives as being the result of witness life, they will latch on to the next illness going around.. so, what is the latest going to be?.
As one sister said, "I got bi-polo!"
