So I had to see what the hubbub was about. Pointed my browser to the tv site and started watching the streaming video of the Prodigal Son.

    Here's my review:

First, not a lot of dialogue. Dad watching home videos of sons first talk and crying. Mom looking into boys old room and crying. Both parents meeting with elders, parents looking distressed and crying. It's apparent that this is not a video to attract new converts but one aimed at retaining what they've got.

The prodigal on the other hand is shown dealing with stress at work. Paying bills. Dealing with a hangover. Relationship problems. And (gasp) looking at porn and no doubt honing his one handed typing skills. What struck me is that these are ALL NORMAL BEHAVIORS.

The solution to these "problems" is for the son to go to meetings and move back home with mom and dad. REALLY?

Another thing that struck me is that the prodigal had what was portrayed as a white collar upper level job in a modern telemarketing firm. All this without a college education? The reality is without college his most stressful career move will be asking if you want fries with that.

What utter and annoying nonsense. I'd rather watch Wheel of Fortune. I hear Vanna White is still pretty hot!

Isn't it obvious? He did go to college, and that's how he got into this mess to begin with! If he never went to college, he couldn't have moved out so he wouldn't have bills. As you said, he wouldn't have had a stressful job. He couldn't afford an evil computer (oh wait are those good now? I can't keep up) so he wouldn't have gotten hooked on porn. He couldn't afford to go to the bar, so no hangover. Clearly, college education is just the gateway drug to a whole host of problems (better know as "life")

And so true to life...dad crying (sure)...mom crying (more likely)...both parents crying with the elders (no way).

That is such an unrealistic potrayal of normal life it is cringe worthy!

The solution is self betterment via education and training, going home is not an answer! How ridiculous. If the implication is that he is an alcoholicw, he needs doctors.

The irony is, having been a JW for 20 plus years and out now over ten, I have never seen so much alcoholism and financial strain, let alone porn and sex issues than IN the JW religion. The irony is breathtaking.

I am surrounded by young people that are jntelligent, affable, successful, honest, well rounded and moral....... They wouldn't know what a Watchtower is! The REAL world is so vastly different to the JW unquestioned indoctrinated assumption. Ironically the watchtower here is potraying a young JW man ......

    With JW issues !!!

    Dealing with a hangover.

Haha, hangovers are there to remind you of how great the previous night was.

That really is the case. JW's are no better off than those in the world. There were many unplanned pregnancies and alcoholics at the halls I went to.
