  If They Found Out That You Were On This Board, What Would Happen?

  if the elders, certain family members or your "friends" knew that you frequented this board, what do you think would happen in your life?......personally, i think a jc would be imminent, and i am not talking about the coming of jesus christ, either.

  I really don't care if my old congregation found out I was on this board. My concern is my family. I am sure my siblings would start shunning me.

  Yesterday morning my sister asked me if I was listening to religious programs. Apparently my radio in my car was tuned to a religious program when I let her use my car a couple weeks ago. Poor thing she was holding in that vital question for two weeks. LOL

  I had no idea what she was talking about. I am not interested in any religion at this point in my life. I didn't tell her that though I was too scared. I just said the program must have changed after a certain hour. That really has to be what happened. Why would I listen to a bunch of crazies after escaping from the mad house? LOL

  My mother and Df'd father attend one or two Sunday meetings a month and yesterday she and my dad asked me if I plan to return. I usually tell them yes but this time I said I don't know. I think I'm making progress. LOL

  Then my sister was talking about the visiting elder that gave the talk yesterday and I said that weirdo is still around?

  My mom said: You know you are talking about an elder? I said yeah, why? She said: "How can you talk about an elder like that? How can he be a weirdo if he is an elder?"

  I laughed and said: "There are a whole bunch of weirdo elders"

  My mom and sister are really good at putting the elders and others on pedestals.

  i am currently a jw but am having a bit of difficulty with it at the moment.

  i have always been a bit 'badly inclined' i got married at the tender age of 17 (crazy!

  ) to a bit of a rebel (a jw but a rebel all the same!

  You are in a very difficult position. I am sorry for you. This is a desicion you must make all on your own. It sounds like you do not have any children. (I hope not) If you leave your husband do not tell your parents that you are leaving the "truth". Some how you you need to make it look like you are still interested in the "truth".

  My best advise would be to: Fade away slowly.

  Why are you not interested in staying a JW? Do you just want out of your marriage?

  You could always pretend you are having a nervous breakdown.

  Seriously though, I feel bad that you are in this situation. I am sure people here will give you better advice.

  Celebrities and their stupid comments

  dixie chicks, playing a concert over seas, announced that they were embarrassed that our president is from texas.. why don't they keep their dumb ass comments to themselves?

  why do many of these entertainers think we give a sh*t what they think???.

  play your music, act, entertain us, but keep your yappers shut about politics!

  I have to agree with the first poster. They should be more dignified when speaking out about their political views.

  I get so mad when I see and hear celebrities speaking out on different politics. Most of them do not have a clue what they are talking about.

  Before anyone gets upset, notice I said "most"

  Nobody likes war, at least not anybody in his or her right mind. Sometimes it is necessary. I really don't know all the facts in this case; maybe it isn't necessary this time.

  I look at it like this: If we (America) are going to hold on to our power we have to fight for it at times. These people hate us and want to whatever they can to hurt us, we seen that on 9/11/01. If we let that go we will just be telling the world: Sure bomb us, kill our people, ruin our economy, It's all right, as long as we don't have to send any of our troops to fight you. Will let you come here and destroy our lives.

  I think we have to look at the bigger picture here. America's power is what allows us our freedoms.

  Some of these celebrities have no clue like I said before. I personally would rather them shut up or back up their stupid little comments with some real thoughts.

  i had been in the cult for 30+ years when a watchtower article came out about how a witness would never use any thing to defend him or her self, including pepper spray stun gun.

  and absoultly no fire arms.

  i had followed blindly for years cauz mama said so and mama and grandpa could not be wrong.

  Very interesting post. I am curious though, Can you or anyone else direct me to the WT that shed "new light" on the "generation" . I remeber reading the info., I just don't know where to find the article. If some one has it posted on here that would be great.

  Witness memory

  have any of you had a similar occurrence when you were a witness as this?

  i was 18 years old and had taken a trip with my witness buddies to new york.

  one of them had been drafted into bethel and we decided to go along to tour the place and visit new york and patterson.

  This is a witness teaching that the earth is only about 6,000 years old. I'm sure someone else will fill you in on all the details, I don't remember them.

  Don't feel bad, I didn't know that unless a girl screams for help before she is about to be raped then she has comitted fornication. Then she is DF'd.

  Hello Cheyannesways and welcome.

  That is exactly my thought. I however go a little further. I wonder is there even a God/Creator? And if so how do we know what religion will he approve if any? This board has been very helpful in challenging me to "think outside the box”. Until reading everyone's posts on here I didn't realize what a small world I was living in.

  Maybe there is no right or wrong answer. Maybe the bible isn't even "God's Word". How do we really know for sure?

  One thing I realized since talking to everyone here is that the only thing I know about other religions is what the Org. taught me from their own publications. We were never allowed to read other religious material for ourselves. We had to take what the Org. taught us about them. And of course their thoughts are going to be bias.

  At this point I have no real interest in religion. I feel they all make money, fame, and power because of our fear of Armageddon.

  If there is one teaching that the Org. taught me that to this day I try to hold on to is the "Fear of God". If God does exist then we are to honor him and fear displeasing him not only because of the power he has to destroy us but also because of his loving kindness he extends to all mankind. Maybe I don't even have that teaching right, who knows. It has been awhile since I was regular at meetings.

  So I look at it this way: I am living a descent life style, I don't cause any kind of harm to people. If God is loving and fair just as the bible says then he knows I am sincere, that my doubts and questions are honest and understandable.

  Elizabeth Smart found alive.

  tv just broke into coverage of a fire to report that police in sandy utah found her alive and well in a car during a routine traffic stop.

  she'd been missing since last july 4th when her sister said that a man came into their room in the middle of the night and took her.

  First let me say I am so happy that this little girl was found. Weather or not she went willingly does not matter. She is only 15 and 14 at the time of her diappearance. This SOB man kept her from her family for almost a year.

  Do You Still Feel Obliged To Answer To The Elders?

  for some, there is real fear that they must speak to the elders if they decide to stop by your house .some don't know what they will do if the elders begin questioning them.

  what will you do if they want to talk to you?

  You always ask interesting questions.

  Well,

  I have been in active for 4 years now, before that I was active for maybe 6 months after a 2 year in active period.

  I am afraid to talk to the Elders. I think they play on peoples emotions. After I stopped attending meetings this last time one of the Elders came over to visit my brother and then asked to speak to me. He asked me why I stopped going to meetings after I was doing so well.

  I couldn't even speak, I automatically started to cry and just said I don't know. He tried to read me scriptures but they did not help me. To this day I have not returned except for once, to attend my Uncle's funeral.

  They tried and tried to contact me off and on for about a year but I ignored them. I guess they finally got the hint they do not bug me anymore ( knock on wood ) .

  I hope the next time they do contact me I will be strong enough to say:

  Hey look, when and if I want to talk to you I will call you, so until then, please leave me alone. Thank you. Then I'll smile and say have a nice day!

  Yeah Right, In my Dreams! I am working on my courage.

  Have You Ever Written A Letter To the Society?

  when i was a kid, i remember my family regularly visiting other friends, including a brother that was the bible study servant.

  every week, he would send a different letter to the society on a variety of subjects.

  when our families would meet, he would ask us the question and we would do research or give our opinion on what we thought the society's answer was going to be.

  Isn't that "funny" that it has always been the Society encouraging it's members to shun friends and family that turn their back on them and then when you write them a letter and ask "Why", they put the responsibilty on your family, it's their conscience, their decision. The Society is the one making it's members feel guilty about staying in contact with those who left the org.

  I'm sorry for your pain it must be hard for you. I can only imagine the hurt in your heart. My sisters limit their association with me and that is hard on me. I know if I DA'd myself or was Df'd they would shun me.
