I...I have no words
by Theredeemer ini cannot wrap my mind around the fact that there is jw tv.
being a born in and living most of my life hearing how tv evangelism is wrong and lazy preaching yet seeing this unfold solidifies this religion as a cult!.
i remember back when i began my fade a few years ago i told my brother during an argument how this religion is just like any other religion in that its bull.

What got me was the music video at the end and how horrible it sounded.
1) It was so generic it could have been written for any religion or self-help group.
2) The voice was atrocious.
3) The music didn't match the voice.
4) They couldn't afford John Mayer or James Blunt, so they had to settle for less.

JW TV is them getting back to their roots and taking it to the next level. Think Photo Drama of Creation. But now available on massive scale.
Also, they want to give the impression of transparency into the religion by showing inside bethel with morning worship, etc. It's all image. Give a false impression that they're not as cultish as everyone says they are.

Welcome, PowerMetal. Glad to see a girl who rocks!
I grew up listening to metal, hard rock, etc. with bands like Nightwish, Sirenia, Tristania, Korn and any other band on the hard rock and above spectrum of music. They're the only reason I made it through high school. I had a lot of problems with being a JW around that time. My mom and I got into some pretty intense arguments over it. But in the end, I sucked it up and became the perfect little Ministerial Servant everyone wanted me to be. I hated myself for it. And now at 29 years old, it's causing problems for me, especially with communication in my marriage. If I knew then what I know now, eh? Anyways, hard rock and heavy metal got me this far in life, expressing feelings I didn't quite know how to express myself.
As far as mainstream rock, it is more accepted. I think it's because there isn't as much substance that could be offensive. Mainstream rock tries to provide something for everyone. To me, it's more like pop with slightly distorted electric guitars. It's not necessarily all bad, but it's so generic. Keep on rocking. You can learn a lot from everyone here and from JWFacts.

Heavy metal
by Godsendconspirator ini have always loved heavy metal music (thrash metal to be more specific).
since heavy metal is usually associated with satan and occult themes many christians and jws in particular stray away from it.
in my teenagehood i was listened to it obsessively until i started studying and got baptized at age 18 and i started listening to other genres.

I always liked foreign melodic metal, favoring those having heavy guitar, some orchestra and violin, a male lead with gruff screaming/talking voice, and hot female backup (or some variation of the above). I'm not really sure what you classify it as, though. Tristania, Sirenia, early Lacuna Coil, Elis, etc. When I was learning guitar, I started playing kingdom melodies with a heavily distorted electric guitar. My mom wasn't too happy about that. lol

In what KM or literature were JW's told to not put the WT logo on podium or buildings?
by Wasanelder Once inin the 80's it became a trend to put the wt logo on the front of the speakers podium where others put a cross.
i always hated that and spoke against it to the body of elders.
i shut up and it was put there anyway untill a km came down that said not to do it.

Also, since it's a hand-me-down, check to see if there are additional user profiles that you can delete. A quick and dirty way to see is look under "C:\Users" or "C:\Documents and Settings" depending on your version of Windows. If you see more profiles than Administrator, Default, and the profiles that you use, you can go to "System" under the "Control Panel", select the "Advanced" tab, click "Settings" under the "User Profiles" box, and then delete the profiles you no longer need. Be careful, because this will delete all of the user's data, including documents, favorites, settings, etc. There's a number of ways to get to this screen depending on your version of Windows, but the Control Panel method is pretty much the same across all versions after you switch from Category view to Icon view in the newer versions.
