The straw that broke the camel's back for me was when I decided to go back to school. I had two Elders in my home biweekly telling me that I was wasting my time. The generation change, dateline, and the UN scandal only confirmed to me that they were a bunch of bull.

by Satans little helper inyou know, the last little thing that blew your patience out of the water and forced you to face up to the fact that you were in a cult that doesn't believe in the bible so much as it believes in it's own power structure?.
for me it was beards.
stupid i know and possibly the most trivial of things to be 'stumbled' over but to me it was the epitomy of what was wrong with the witnesses - arbitrary rules poking their noses into the lives of people where they had no business.

Would you get baptized again?
by JH ini was baptized as a catholic, when i was very young, and then baptized in my late twenties as a jw.
which leads to my question.
if you joined another religion, would you get baptized again?

I'd rather be marinated in everclear and set on fire than to be baptised into any religious organization again.

They have provided thousands of people with good quality paper to use as birdcage liner, or for toilet tissue, who otherwise would not have been able to afford it.
Better be careful what you use that paper for....
There's no telling what that cheap ink will do to you

i wrote bb that i'd look around and haven't found anything yet.

Thanks for the headcount on the capacity of the Reed Center Elsewhere. Did you also notice that they're not using that Rosenburg Assembly hall at all? I didn't notice it in the schedule. I guess it is too small a venue to bring in the big bucks the Soceity is demanding these days. If I missed it I apologize for even bringing it up.

Actually, I think this will be the first time they're not using the Astrodome in Houston, as I was there last year for their world famous "Beware the Voice of Strangers" talk. All the dubs I know now have to drive some 80 miles to College Station. Interesting that they've divided it in three seperate weekends.
The Reed Center there only holds about 15K to 18K people, so, it remains to be seen if the Soceity will try to pack every seat forcing people to go to cars that have sat in the Texas heat all day for food.

what's your favority JW reference from a movie or TV ?

mine is from friday, the movie with ice cube, where a couple of jw ladies wake up ice cube's character's family one morning and there's some mouthing off, and you wouldn't believe the nasty words coming out of these sweet looking old "sisters".

I remember that distinctly.......
Me and the wife went and saw that movie and that first scene had both me and others in the theatre rolling. My wife was incensed and subsequently turned off from the rest of the movie. She just couldn't get past that part.

Reminds me of the intermission when they'll always say that the convention sound system will only be used for convention business and please not ask to use it in the case of an emergency.
wouldn't want to waste any of that convention time in doing anything other than indoctrinating.

my wife is to the point where unless it is a "R" rated movie, she'll drop a meeting in a heartbeat to go somewhere fun with me.

1975 watchtower or earlier
by kls ini need to know if there was anything in 1975 awake or watchtower or even before ,that states armageden will be in 1975. i asked my jw huband about this and he told me there is nothing printed about the end in 1975 ,that it was a bunch of jw talk not from the org.
if so how do i find the magazine?
any help would be great.

by BLISSISIGNORANCE ini was a catholic all my life then in my early 30s i got baptized as a jw.
a friend of mine when in her 20s became a dub.
she always talked to me about the borg and troof and i listened.

the wife got me into it after she was baptised.
I remember being at a witness gathering and everyone was being so friendly and cordial. I remember thinking these people aren't so bad, and when an elder finally got around to asking me would I like a study, I hesitantly said yes.
Big Mistake.
Took me a couple of years to come to my senses, but, once I did, I was outta there.
