most meetings i went to, children were brought to the washrooms in the back to be disciplined.
often i could hear a child yell or cry due to the spanking given by the parent.
people in the hall would have that look on their face meaning that it was alright to discipline a child by spanking him.
I used to get pulled to the bathroom by those short hairs on the back of my neck(eeck!). My mom always used her shoes to spank me, and she never cared who else was in the restroom at the time. When I got older, I found out that the entire congregation used to hear it...her hitting me, and me crying. It still amazes, and sickens me how nothing is ever done about parents who do this.

how many of you, go to the occasional meeting?
i no longer believe any of the things i was raised to believe... but for some reason i still go to the occasional meeting and i even went to the special assembly last weekend (even though i got there after lunch).
i guess it will take a while to completely break away but i was wondering if anyone else is in this situation.

I pretty much stopped going to meetings just before I turned 18, but I didn't stop believing(most of it, at least), until I was almost 21. I went to a Thursday night meeting every once in a while, and sometimes a Sunday meeting.
It wasn't until I stopped going to meetings completely that finally lost that mindset. I see now how detrimental it was...you know, a part of me hanging on when I knew it wasn't right. I've come a looooong way since then.

this is not intended to be a morbid post but because of the nature of the topic i guess it is anyway!
have you ever heard of a long time terminally ill person who could live a few years more yet seem to know that they were going to die in the next couple of days?
my grandfather called my cousin into his room a few years ago and told her that his funeral was happening before his eyes, he could see it, he died that night.. anyway, back to the original ?, have you heard of similar things?
In the two months or so leading up to my grandma's death, she told me so many stories about her life...and gave me a lot more advice. She told me she wasn't going to be around much longer, and she wanted to know that I would be strong enough to handle it. Also, she made a point of giving me things, like a lot of her Christmas things. She died on January 4th. I think she stayed alive to see me celebrate my first birthday and Christmas. But, she knew.
