When I was in 8th grade, my history teacher said something so ignorant that I will never forget it.
"Slavery wasn't just the fault of white people. It was the black people who submitted to it. If they would have fought harder against it, it would have been different."
Holy crap. I wanted to jump out of my chair and punch him!
It IS scary that people like that are out there influencing kids.

Anyone Vegetarian???Need advice...
by LyinEyes inwell i just got my blood work done, it was way over due , it has been three years.
it came back good on the sugar, but bad on cholestoral...... and very , very bad on triglycrides.

When I was a kid, I had high cholesterol (peaked at 400). I never ate red meat; everything was made with turkey instead. Turkey is pretty good, and it is the healthiest meat. No eggs or cheese; Egg Beaters instead. I drank skim milk rather than 2%. Wheat bread, rather than white bread. It is a much healthier diet, and it tastes pretty good, too. For everything that is bad for you, there is always an alternative!
For non-meat, I'm w/ Valis on Boca Burgers. Harvest Burgers run along the same line, and are my personal favorite. Anything soy is good, also.

My Very First Door
by LB inback what seems like a zillion years ago i finally got up the courage to take my first door.
i had been out in service a few times, but this was going to be the one where i did all the talking.. knock knock knock.
door opens, i shuffle my feet and say "nice door, did you buy that or did it come with the house?".

I was about 7 when I placed my first mags, too. It was in a trailer court, to a girl with acne. I believe she was a teenager. My mom brought me back every Saturday for a couple months, but one day the mother answered the door, and told us never to come back. That was just before they changed it to "donation only" for books and mags.

Are You Tough, Or Are You A Baby?
by minimus inif you were to describe your temperment, would you say that you are a pretty tough person or a crybaby?
do you wear your heart on your sleeve and tend to be emotional, or do you let things just bounce off of you?
