The website says they are the 'Advocates for awareness of Watchtower abuses'
Abuse is not a happy subject.
i'm curious, anyone else find the aawa.co website negative?
heavy handed on the emotional trauma posts, and light on the informational posts?
maybe it is just me but on top of the fact that there isn't much posting going on there, the topics were downers.

just one day perform some form of miracle in front of the entire earth in which he proves he exists???.
wouldn't this be the most loving and sensible thing to do?
for instance, this coming thursday god repeatedly strikes mount kilamanjaro to the point that it reads in hebrew, "god exists, i just did this.
I have a friend who's walking up Mount Kilimanjaro starting Thursday. I hope that God doesn't strike the mountain, for her sake..
i would be very interested to hear from you ladies on this one.
i know that the society keeps women in subjugation through the headship cr@p but didn't ahve any sense about hoew prehistoric the attitudes are until the other day when we were driving out of the supermarket car park and my wife spotted a woman dressed in tight shorts (it has been very hot here) and she commented 'they say that women who dress like that dserve to be raped'.
i did a wtf and overreacted 'how can you blame the victim like that - such attitudes give men a lciense to commit rape and make women feel they are to balme if they get raped which in turn means that rape doesn't get reported and it gopes on with impunity.
Frazzled ubm:
The day I realised I no longer wanted to be a JW was at a circuit assembly. I had already realised it wasn't true but was still working out what to do with myself.
This brother came to the platform to do his talk: Soundness of mind. He decided to illustrate showing soundness of mind by telling the story of a young woman who went on a night out and got raped walking home. His point was she hadn't shown soundness of mind by going out alone.
The lack of wisdom in illustrating wisdom by blaming a rape victim in a room of 900 people, where statistically there were likely rape victims present, was apparently lost on him.
I complained about this to anyone who would listen afterwards but everyone defended him. I realised then I just couldn't be a part of this anymore.
i am so thankful that i was able to learn the truth about the truthtm (ttatt).
i owe everything in my life to having left watchtower corp: my education, my position as a college professor, being able to write and publish, travel, family life, my beautiful children, being able to be openly gay -- and happy.
unlike those closeted homosexuals in the truthtm, i do not have to be afraid to be who i am.
I've lost so much but I'm running on the hope that it will be worth it in the end. I know I will never go back.

Is there any suggestion in the Bible that Jesus would shun anyone?
Absolutely none Jeffro, Jesus didn't seem to care much about sin at all.
they would have told you beforehand that jesus was not your mediator?.
Yes. I got baptised because I believed it was the truth and assumed the society knew what they were talking about.
"the watchtower of october 1, 1909, said: all who cut loose from the society and its work, instead of prospering themselves or upbuilding others in the faith and in the graces of the spirit, seemingly do the reverseattempt injury to the cause they once served, and, with more or less noise, gradually sink into oblivion, harming only themselves and others possessed of a similarly contentious spirit.

quiet one, I wasn't criticising your posts, I was critiquing the author of the blogs you linked to.
Re: The other thread - the author just copied and pastes her argument from the Watchtower Library CD.
Re: This thread - what the author posted in 2011 is old light in 2013, demonstrating how ridiculous her article is.
Sorry that wasn't more clear.

That article is old light, there's no evil slave anymore.

Someone knows how to copy and paste...
it would be nice if this little nougat of information could be more widely known - especially by journalists.. the quoted figures for scientology are taken from tony ortega's 2011 article in the village voice, which quotes former scientology pr executive jeff hawkins as saying.... "i know that event attendance internationally was somewhere in the region of 25,000 to 35,000. the international 'bodies in the shop' (people actually in the orgs that week for service) was 16,000 to 18,000. ias was struggling to get 40,000 members.
based on this and a lot of other information i was privy to, i estimate the actual number of scientologists at a maximum of 40,000. that's on the high side.".
portugal is one of 33 countries with more than 40,000 active jehovah's witnesses - demonstrating the gulf in size between the two faiths.. the following list shows all countries with more than 40,000 jws according to their reported peak publishers for 2013.. .
If XYZ church and JW church each have 3 births only XYZ would count them as members which would inflate their growth above JWs. And memorial attendance is growing at about the same percentage rate so if they counted growth in another way it seems to me it would still work out about the same.
