The song is Christian Dedication: I can still recall the lyrics even though it's more than 16yrs since I heard them.

Marriage Proposal in the Kingdom Hall
by Listener injust when you think you've seen it all comes another interesting use of a kingdom hall.a young man serenades his girlfriend with a song (possibly a watchtower song) from the stage through a microphone and backed by recorded music.
then he steps off the stage and gets down on one knee and proposes as he pulls out a ring from his coat pocket.
the large projector screen flashes up behind them with a picture of a sapphire and diamond ring.cameras capture the joyous moment as she accepts and they lock together in a loving hug.

Deliberately Avoiding the "G" and "L" words in their Videos
by steve2 innow that we have had a "sneak" preview of some of the videos for the upcoming 2018 jw regional conventions, we have opportunity to stand back and ponder their content, including their use of language - or in this case, their avoidance of certain words.
in this post, i focus on what i think is a "quaint", if not peculiar, avoidance of certain words that seems to have become a jw organization practice: they avoid use of the actual words "gay" or "lesbian" in any of the videos - even in people playing the roles of being gay- or lesbian-friendly.
a case in point is the preview of the video featuring the jw woman purchasing an item in a store where wrist bands are given away with purchases.

Having a look through the uses of the word in their articles I’m not convinced that it’s always framed within a worldly or negative quote but I agree it’s used a lot less than homosexual. Wonder how the Mormons compare.
My family (all JW) refer to me as gay, my uncle charmingly calls me a poof, so the WT choice doesn’t seem to filter into their language.

They used gay in that wife of Lot video, when the daughter brought home work colleagues, but avoided lesbian - referred to 2 mums instead.
and wasn’t there a Young People Ask along the lines of Am I Gay?

I was probably PIMO most of my adult life, trapped by fear of the unknown. Then I fell in love with another man and snapped into POMO as the only route to survival.
6 months of being an elder also confirmed what a lot of nonsense it all was.

Now having a flashback:
I wore a plain grey kilt and that seemed to get some adverse comment. It also caused an explosive argument when I wore it in Athens, Greece as one witness refused to go out on the street with a man in a skirt (the irony being that the traditional Greek fustanella is basically a mini kilt for men)

In Scotland, a few wore kilts at district assemblies, a lot wore them to kingdom hall weddings.

They don’t seem to like boy on boy or girl on boy but I wonder if there’s going to be advice against girl on girl... or do lesbians fly below the radar?

Sister may have had a slight heart attack, do I text her?
by Xanthippe inso my cousin phoned and told me my jw sister was taken to hospital with chest pains and it may have been a slight heart attack or possibly she's starting with angina.
now as some of you know my sisters and brother have had little to do with me for 29 years.
we've met at funerals, or arranged them, but i just thought today what if she did die?

I wouldn’t text, it invites a response or at least opens you to rejection.
Send her a card, saying how sorry you were to hear she was ill. Get well cards don’t necessarily result in replies but would certainly show you care.
when I learned my Aunt was dying of cancer last year I wrote to her with memories of the great times we’d had together. She’d cut me out her life 10 yrs ago but I learned that she loved the letter. I never got a reply, but that wasn’t what I wanted, I wanted her to know she had done some lovely things for me as a child that I’d greatly appreciated.
