Thanks jgnat for the video. I don't want to ever not feel doubt; if I ever felt convinced I knew the secrets of the universe I'm sure it'd be from a padded room.

it's those who demand certainty who make a mockery of faith.. this talk will stick with you..

the jesus believers were meeting in people's homes.
members of that community would take turns using private homes to gather.
thus, they went house to house.. these footstep tracers of jesus (they called themselves akolouthontes "followers" or some called themselves mathetai or "learners.
Thanks Terry, great read.

so as of today, it is my one year anniversary of being out.
i simplified it so that most people who know nothing of jws can understand.
in addition to writing this as self therapy, i plan to use it to educate others in my life who need to know more about where i come from.
Welcome BreathoftheIndianNose!

i still believe it's coming.
i think if god is real, it has to come.
it only makes sense.
You mentioned 'Adam and Eve' - do you believe these were actual people? It seems there is still much for you to explore, learn & read. It's a never-ending process, this deconstructing and building back up again, after leaving the JW's.
However your beliefs end up afterward, at least you will have given it your best efforts to come to your own understanding, rather than have GB brainwashing residue still nagging at your brain. There are many people on JWNet that have gone on to learn and thankfully share what they have discovered about history, theology, philosophy. All the knowledge the GB didn't want you to know.
Keep seeking!

Blondie,
Sorry you are sore! Thank you for the WT study notes. I always look forward to them.

as i continue to post these letters just to let people see what they can expect through a fade, i hope they are not annoying anyone.. if so please let me know and i will no longer post them.
however i think these letters help you to see how cultish and crazy this religion causes people to become:.
evening <name removed>,.
sosoconfused,
Thank you for posting your mother's letter. It reads just like the conversations (one-way!) my aunts on both sides of the family used to begin whenever they saw me. I make sure they don't see me any more.
Once my mother used to say I was going to be destroyed in Armageddon but she, like me, is out of all that nonsense now.
My df'd cousin receives flip-flopping letters from her mother every now and then - sometimes the letters are asking to see the grandkids, sometimes they are written to reinforce the fact mother and daughter can not see each other any more. Utterly crazy.
Hang in there!!!

a customer on my route with whom i have had some lively debates was his number 1 complaint is that "the witnesses have so many rules".
last month i agreed with on this issue.
he asked why the change, i told him that i have been doing some soul searching.
My mother told me that my father remained a JW because of me and my brothers - so that as we grew up he could provide us with a good spiritual foundation we would then take with us into adulthood; I find this debatable and I personally think he used the WTS rules & JW obedience-obsession to maintain control over us. Even if he didn't consciously realize this himself.

i noticed over the years how bros & sis(tm) would pronounce words/names differently or totally substitute them so as not to sound offensive.. egs:.
instead of 'bible aids' a bro(tm) said 'bible helps' thus avoiding aids disease!?!.
instead of sodom the bro(tm) pronounced it 'sow dom'.
Ànyone ever accidentally said 'bless you' after a JW sneezes?!!!!
I used to get told off for that a lot when I was growing up.

i once attended a two day special assembly with my gums bleeding after having 4 widom teeth pulled the day before.
i managed the two days by rinsing out my mouth all day long and placing cotton in my mouth.. one brother had back surgery the week before but attended a two day assembly by laying on a matress in the back of the assembly hall.
why he needed to be there i'll never understand!.
I remember the severest case of teenage-abuse I thought I'd ever seen when I was a teen; a poor girl about sixteen was made to sit in the front row of my grandmother's KH, in between her parents, WEARING DENTAL HEAD-GEAR.
