I can kind of see what inside the KH as having some truth to it (BTW I not an apologist either).I would say the likelihood of the literature been read would be higher because the person has taken the initial initiative, or in other words they have approached the cart because they are interested in a topic. Where as in the D2D work you are going to them with something they may not be interested in.

jw.org cart days numbered?
by jookbeard inreading a report of an elder in a friends cong has been hiding and spying on the pioneers who seem to have a practise of dumping the cart and finding a local coffee shop, i've noticed that they do this in my local high street as well but this week they seemed to be all huddled around the cart, they've clearly been warned, a vast percentage of the time i see they seem to be more interested in fiddling with their mobile phones and gossiping, is just seems these carts are a means for the pioneers to turn in "easy time" i wonder what sort of figures show how much literature is being taken by the public?
i bet its very minimal.
naturally the gb would say they are a phenomenal success , we clearly know they are not.

The issue with this is not so much the sponsorship but rather who gave the ok for this. I have to say unless I see some sort of paper trail leading to Brooklyn then I can only speculate. -

Be careful how you approach this subject because the minute your family see a copy of the book the next question they will ask is how did you get it. "Oh I got it off an apostate Web sight on the intetnet" the defences will go up the mind will shut down, and you're lost before you even begun. Even if the book is authentic or not. -

which set me thinking about death and the jws.
we were so positive that armageddon was coming in our life time that when death arrives on the door-step its hard for some to cope.. not that this man who just died may have been in that situation.

we have all seen the 'dumbing down' of the wt literature.
on a personal level i have seen many of the perceivably intelligent younger members of congregations leave.

Stuckinarut2=I agree about the quality of the new converts entering the organization today. I can give a good example that highlights this. There was an interested couple attending the meetings for a couple of months. He ran a successful business while she had a responsible position in a government department. Both were just down to earth, lovely, desent people who would of been an asset to any organisation they joined. Anyway I remember them saying they were going to have a chat with their pastor about the things they were learning at the hall, and after that we never saw them again. They always stayed in my mind. Fast forward a few years and at the same time I was learning TTATT I happened to see them in town, and I asked them the reasons for not coming back. Well it turned out that they didn't have to go to their pastor, as a relative done a Google search. The two main reasons I was given was the Internet and child sex abuse. I think that pretty much sums it up. -

With all the bad media coverage, the charities commision in the UK, and the abuse cases now been aired in public. I gotta give it to watch tower they certainly know how to take the punishment.
