It's party time!
okay, so i didn't want you all to think that i'm an ignorant slut, so i didn't share this with you, but a few weeks ago i took a very, very hard test (the final phase of my senior clerical assistant application at the college district where i work).

CONGRATULATONS!!!!
3 Cheers!!!
It's party time!
no i am not going to turn into a pumpkin----------lol.. the two towers first showing will be at midnight and we will be there!!
i have been waiting for a yr for the next lord of the rings to come out!!
i can't wait to see it!!
Hey Jesika,
Can't afford to see the movie as I would love to go and see it, but I do love reading your posts
But on the other hand, since they never caption the movies at the theaters, I will have to wait until it comes out on DVD. But it won't be the same as the theater experience. Sometimes I'll have a interpretor friend sign to me what they are saying or I like this alot, have a friend bring two laptop computers and she can type what they're saying on the screen while I eye the screen at the same time. Ah, the luxery isn't always available.
just a little experience i had this week.
we recently found a local learning center comprised of amateur scientist and professionals who meet regular to share new ideas and to conduct classes and group discussions.
yesterday i spoke with the president of the learning center who is 75 years old retired physicist.
The view about the Internet as being a great source of information, I can agree with.
The WT is scared to death of the Internet and are trying to discourage their members from it. Pretty soon I would say that the WT could issue an ultimantium(s?) that computers are Satan's tool and should be avoided at all cost.
So I won't be surprised if that comes out in print in their WT magazine. They may revert back to the old ways of comunicating via telephone, fax and snail mail. So they don't have to worry about their members poking around the Internet and discover issues like the UN membership and the child molestation cover ups.
Elders may be given orders to DF any member for owning a computer.
I could be wrong about this, but if the paranoia is there at the WT concerning the Internet and knowing how these old geezers upstairs at the mighty WT building may think, I won't be surprised if this happens.
Who knows?

anyone have any idea what the exact numbers there are with deaf jws?
just curious how many there worldwide?.
anyone still on the inside able to get that information?.
Lady Lee - Yizuman - a shorthand of english?????sign is much better than that - a wonderful language with it's own grammar and syntax - efficient and perfect on its own - I would never say that sign is an english short-hand - sort of lowers it a bit - but that is just my opinion
Well, I'm trying my best to explain how ASL works and poor choice of words on my part.
When I said "short-hand" english. I meant something like this...
English: I visited the Sears Tower today. I went up in the elevator to the roof of the building. I got to see the most beautiful scenery of the city of Chicago. It was an awesome sight to see!
ASL: I finished touched Sears Tower. I rode elevator to roof. I see Chicago everywhere. WOW! Wonderful see city!
There, you see I made the whole story short and to the point, as you can see, I also cut out unneccesary words in a sentence, such as: the, to, in, etc.We don't use any of that in ASL. We deaf folks who engage in a conversation prefer quick and to the point conversations. So, I was trying to convey and describe what ASL is like.
Also, we deaf folks don't hear words inside our thoughts when we think like hearing people. Instead we think with "hands" inside our heads, like an image of a pair of hands signing as we use our thought process. Since I don't hear words, I don't think in words either. Besides some words I still remember how to say before I lost my hearing at the age of 3, I can still remember how to say, "shoe". But I am verbally illiterate. So I am limited in the verbal volcabulary department. We also think in pictures, images of what see and know about and we think with emotions as well.
So when a couple of deaf people or even in a group engage in a conversation, we connect immediately by "seeing" what the conversationalist sees and we "feel" what the conversationist feels. It's like we're wired together like a tether(s?). So we relate to each other far more easier and more so than we do with hearing people.
If you had the chance to study the Greek language, it's very closely, very much like how we deaf people think, see and feel. The language is entirely different in the thought process than in the english language. Same goes for Hebrew as well.
well, it went sorta shaky today i guess.
this is a temp service job interview and gives job placements for those who match interests between employer and employee.. i told the interviewer that i am deaf and can read lips, but problem was he wasn't making it easy for me.
his lips moved faster than the tansmania devil that i had to slow him down a good number of times.
Well, today is not a good day. A power surge killed my alarm clock (bed shaker hooked up to a digital clock plugged to the wall) and caused my alarm clock to reset itself and it was blinking when I woke up. I slept WAY past work time this morning. I got to work as fast as I could, only to be told by the Store Manager to go home because I am late. Apparently I may lose my job as a result of this.
I missed to many days of work at Wal-Mart and it's not looking good at all. Being sick alot and having depression that at times makes me sick as a puppy. The depression that I am suffering from is what my main number one problem is what caused me to miss work alot. I am taking Paxel for it. I have tried many different kinds of depression medication and alot of them don't work very well for me.
I am worried that I may lose my job. So, I will have to wait and see how things go when I speak to the Store Manager tomorrow.
I hope I get hired through the Agency and keep the income coming to support myself. I also think that a change of a job would help benefit my depression as well since I am burning out working in a retail business enviroment for 20 years.
Wish me luck guys.
Oh, I did get the 2 business references and emailed them to my interviewer today. So, we'll see how this works out from there.

minimus - WHAT DID YOU SAY??????..........................about intellectually deaf????????????????
minimus, that is not a nice thing to say. He's speaking in ASL which is a shorthand of english. Something you will not understand.
I would suggest an apology be in order.
Thank you.

Big Tex - Well congratulations on at least getting an interview. Sometimes you gotta crawl before you walk. If it doesn't work out at that agency, then it's probably better for you. Otherwise he might not send you on the best prospects for you, or perhaps not even call you for a job. Hang in there, you're going to find what you need. Just keep trying.
Yeah I'll just keep trying....speaking of walking. I think I got a blister from walking in these Sunday shoes that I haven't worn in years. OUCH! I need to get a better pair somewhere.
i just had a funny come across my head, what's really more dangerous than dealing with a female jw with pms at your door?.
male home owner: *opens door* "yes?".
female jw: "hello, my name is gloria and this is my friend amy.
I just had a funny come across my head, what's really more dangerous than dealing with a female JW with PMS at your door?
*KNOCK! KNOCK*
Male Home Owner: *Opens Door* "Yes?"
Female JW: "Hello, my name is Gloria and this is my friend Amy. We're one of the Jehovah's Witnesses and we're here in the neighborhood to share the good news about Jehovah's New Kingdom...
Male Home Owner: *Interrupts* "I'm not really interested...."
JW Gloria: "WHAT???!! NOT INTERESTED??!!! I walked what seemed like ten freaking miles throughout this whole Jehovah forsaken neighborhood in these Jehovah forsaken shoes with my Jehovah forsaken blisters for Jehovah forsaken hours to share the Jehovah forsaken good news while I come to your door and you have the gall to tell me YOU. ARE. NOT. INTERESTED???!!!"

Country Girl - Hiya Yizuman--
Howdy!
Have read of your trials in attempting to find more employment, your depression and your financial woes. It's so encouraging to see that you have had an interview at last! Sometimes it just seems as when everything is looking really bad, something or someone comes along and makes it a little bit brighter! I'm glad you got a suit, your sister was very generous! Even if it's from Goodwill, sometimes they have some really great stuff there... I love going there and rootin around! Good luck, Yiz.. I am sure you're gonna be just fine! Looks like you're well on your way.
I hope so, given some vibes I had received from the interview, it's kinda shakey, but we'll see. I'll keep everyone posted.
Psoriasas: I've read that Evening of Primrose oil can help in this department. You can get that at Wal Mart. It also helps with PMS.. but I'm sure you don't have to deal with that. <grin>
Lotsa cool info from everyone,
Cheers!
