  UK Gun Laws: Possession = 5 Years Imprisonment.

  following the deaths by shooting of 2 teenage girls last week, the uk government is speeding through even tighter gun controls than ever before.. already, high court judges have been told to impose a minimum 5 year jail sentence to anyone found in possesssion of a hand-gun in a public place.

  also, consideration is being given to outlawing replica firearms as well as air powered weapons.

  much is being made of the violent lyrics sometimes contained in rap - music which appears to often endorse gun culture.. see:http://news.bbc.co.uk/ for full story.. englishman..

  I'm in the 'individual freedoms' camp. An argument over the effectiveness of gun control laws is largely an 'ends justifies the means' discussion. Fact is, I want my gun. I want to keep it at home. I want to use it for hunting, self-defense, sport shooting, and whatever the hell else I feel like that doesn't hurt anyone. And I'll take responsibility for how I use it. And its not my damnable government's right to infringe those freedoms.

  Something else: thousands and thousands of people died for our rights and freedoms. It is a spit in the eye of all that gave us these freedoms in to let them fall like a two-day-old newspaper.

  ThiChi, I was reading thru and planning to reply with the famous Archie Bunker quote to Gloria, "Would ya feel better, little gearl, if they wuz pushed outa winduz?". Damned if you didn't beat me to it.

  Question for SwordOfJah and other real JWs

  i have a request.. could you perhaps state all the real facts that support the idea of the gb being inspired by god?.

  i am not talking about feelings, faith etc.

  but of real proveable fact...things that would be accepted in a court or that would survive scientific testing.

  I would be impressed by any such proof that indicated that the GB was even preferred, or blessed, or singled out for anything by God.

  ok i waited a few days for this... on sunday i spoke to my dad and we argued about the same wt lies.. so he went for do you know what the wt is teaching today , i said sure do you want to go over a few new mag's .... he did the zombie walk ... so my brother and i went to a kh to get the new daniel and isaihyh's books , and we were invited to the wt study... so 2 hours we come back ...guess what the doors were locked????

  so the po and a few elders came out to talk...the po called me a liar and said i never gave my address for a study before and said that at other times when i was there that i demanded to go into their library .. i said thats because you called me a liar infront of some of the friends so let me back up what i said... at this point they try to start a fist fight ,,but my brother stops it.. and they start talking to him.

  .... my brother is not so good with the bible.... but he sure knows his wt... so i let him talk for about 40 minutes... and he shut down the po and the elders on every point even when they tried to use the bible.. i was amazed ... they walked baqck into the hall with their tails between their legs... the best part was when at the end after my brother whipped them from wt statements to the bible... he said and you fools are the leaders of this pitiful flock , you elders believe the holy sprit appointed you... you can't even understand a few 3rd grade bible verses... trust me it was the best witness i've seen in a long time... lets see if they show up for the beating ,i mean study the po set up for saturday i'll bet 100 to 1 they don't show.... freedom in christ !!!!!!!!!

  Larry,

  What impressed me most about RF's books was the tone. I fully expected to find a direct, full-out assault on everything JW. Instead I found the tone to be a calm, straightforward relation of facts. After I read the first one, I had to get the second immediately. Of course the facts are accompanied by his personal assessments. But again, I'm sure you'll be impressed by his tone.

  I have seen boys that should have grown into men. Instead they have become the types that accept the WTS line of crap - even when it comes to defending their own daughters against sexual attack. These shells of what should be 'men' were the friends of my youth. All these years later, I still mourn the destruction of the men that they should have become.

  Coon, I am deeply sorry for what you are dealing with. But for what its worth, I am charged up by your attitude. Put 'em over a barrel and go in dry.

  hi, i've been reading this site for quite a while now.

  i've read the gentile times reconsidered book and found it very interesting.

  i've tried to verify everything in that book and found it to be accurate.

  I love how JWs start their logic with a conclusion. 'Who else is preaching the good news?' She works with the assumption that the JW brand of preaching is what was prescribed in the bible. That is not nearly as solid as she would like. Read Ray Franz' description of Fred Franz' cynical rationlization of the 'door to door' interpretation (it may be in "In Search of Christian Freedom").

  Why is the '1914 teaching' so complicated? My nonDub-Dad was a pretty good salesman and he had a fun little saying (I think he spoke it about the JWs at one time or another): If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullsh*t.

  Why do they stick to it? Yes it is closely tied to their basis of authority. I haven't the slightest idea of what they would be preaching if they abandoned the 1914 teaching. Where would the imminent destruction of almost all humans fit, if there were no 'establishment of God's kingdom' in heaven?

  The answer is obvious.

  But once you are rid of him you will need to find out why you tolerated this guy. That is the issue at the core.

  I can't imagine how much adjustment is in store for someone who has been thru 50 years of head-nodding indoctrination sessions. I wonder how it feels sleeping in on Saturday - and letting those poor worldly people have their Saturday mornings to themselves - probably strange but liberating.
